That wouldn't have been a Temporary Protection Status, but a major overhaul of our immigration laws. The Republicans were always soooo cooperative when it came to immigration reform. Lol

These immigrants are here due to a bloody civil war, a deadly earthquake and extreme violence in their country. There really hasn't been a good time to send children back to the country, so no President wanted to have reports in the media of children who are US citizens being murdered in the streets. 

I guess Trump doesn't care because everyone already knows he doesn't care for anyone but himself and his followers blame the brown people for the fact that they can't get a job. They will be fine with brown US citizens getting murdered in the streets.

Then try to reform that law. If El Salvador is currently safe to inhabit, shouldnt it only be natural to rescind their temporary status in the US? 

I realize this is a huge change in these people’s lives, but I think this has been a long time coming. Both democrats and republicans have been pushing this issue to the side for quite awhile. Temporary status has never made these people feel comfortable.

Once again, getting bi-partisan support for reform wasn't likely. Except for the whole problem now of splitting up families or sending older teen US citizens to a country they don't know. 

Some of these people are citizens. Some are dreamers. Many are productive citizens, many working in jobs that need immigrant labor. The issues are complex.

Assumptuous snarky comments mean nothing to me other than that you are trying to paint a picture or tell a story the way you see it.

This issue should have been resolved long ago. A Temporary residence status shouldn’t last 17 years.

I have no idea what you are talking about. That's the facts...reform was unlikely...sending US Citizens to a country they don't know or splitting up families isn't seen as very "American". (Well, before Trump) 

Except that the country had issues that made its citizens keep that status.
