Punktious 1,348
2 Questions: What do you think the difference between the two are? I think a fan is just someone who listens to music and watches the videos, but a stan goes deeper (ie having unreleased songs, watching interviews, constantly on social media looking for info about who they stan) Who do you stan and who are you a fan of? I stan Gaga, Lana, Marina, Jon Bellion, and Kesha, but I only consider myself a fan of some many others like Florence, Taylor, Rihanna, Ariana

PunkTheFunk 123,478
Fans are like supportive coworkers -- they give you positive reinforcement, compliment you when you look good, and look forward to seeing what you're working on. Stans are like obsessed lovers -- they want to know why you looked at that guy a certain way, why you're moving to New York City and not telling them, get angry when you don't give them attention, etc.

SCHEISSEMONTRE 2,783
I thought people got rid of their Stan cards after what happened with the whole Frankenstein'd / Residency mess. Any way. Fan of Gaga (obviously), Kesha, starting to get into Madge's music, Ari (since late victorious / S&C era), Demi Lovato, and getting into BTS (yeah Ik, I’m a mess, but it’s my choice to like them so F off if you don’t like my decision), semi -fan of: Rihanna, Beyoncé, Britney Spears, and Pink) Mychal
Doot 2
I would disagree. A fan can be someone who goes to multiple tour stops, knows all her crew, unreleased material, goes into forums, etc. A “stan” is someone who thinks they can manager their career better than they can. A “stan” is someone who sits on Twitter and cares more about bragging rights than they do actual music. A “stan” thinks it’s funny to make fun of other artists when they fail. A “stan” is someone who pretends to be personally offended or affected when an artist does something they don’t like. A “stan” is also someone who writes crazy letters to their fave, locks their pregnant girlfriend in the trunk and drives off a bridge. Long story short: stan culture is hella stupid. pedrohemg 7,802
I think I'm only a fan. Talking about Gaga, for example, I've never been to her shows (and I don't want to), I never bought her albums, etc. But I'm always defending her on social media, I get really happy with new music, and I hate when they don't nominate her for grammys etc. But maybe I think I'm a super fan. So lets say I'm a super fan of Gaga, Meryl Streep and Viola Davis. But stan no, I don't like the meaning of this word.

Cassidyfal 758
"I am faning lady gaga" vs "I stan lady gaga" - you say it as a verb without the "ing" otherwise it would be "staning"
