Bear 7,515
Girly I think emotions like "rage" can be, and have been, expressed equally well by both genders in plenty of different genres. Based off of the article he seems to be referring to Pop, but honestly Pop is at a pretty low point in popularity right now. I'd argue RnB, Hip Hop and Rap are much much bigger right now- and there are no shortages of males artists in these fields as we've seen over the past year or so

StrawberryBlond 14,629
I really don't understand what the purpose of calling today's music girly had to do with the rest of what he said, which was a bash at free streaming services. The two don't correlate. It's just nothing but a vehicle to push his dogmatic views about how the public should listen to music nowadays, blinkered regarding the fact that most people don't have the money to buy every piece of music they like or subscribe to a costly streaming site. He's clearly completely out of touch with what the youth are listening to right now because he'd know that urban music is the genre that is really benefitting from streaming, not pop. And women have been struggling for the last few years. If anything, radio is saturated with songs involving men singing about women, so I don't know where he's coming from. If men want to express their rage through music, there's nothing stopping them doing it through rock. Just because it's not the most commercially successful genre right now shouldn't be the deciding factor in whether to do it or not. And does he seriously think only men want/have to express rage? I have so much building inside me as a woman but unlike men, I'm not encouraged to get it out because it's not ladylike, validated or worth listening to. Men have always been encouraged to get their anger out in many ways throughout life, so to say that hip hop is their only outlet is so far off the mark.
