Drin Lon 7,875
Hi everybody! God I hope this doesn't flop miserably but it probably will So, I was inspired by @Antonio 's ranking of Madonna's albums a couple of months ago, to do this! I have basically done a 50% subjective/ 50% objective ranking of Godney's masterpieces and Britney Jean and I'm sharing it with y'all! 9)Britney Jean …Soooo, Britney Jean Let’s just say I don’t hate it and Work B*tch is iconic 8)Circus Now onto Circus! I know I’ll get some heat for placing it so low, but honestly judging from the singles, you’d think it would have been a better album. Most of the songs feel unfinished, and the production on most of the tracks seems to go nowhere. There’s no coherent album theme, and the mixing of her voice is downright bad. That doesn’t mean tho that the album is a bad one, it’s really not. It’s just that it feels like a continuation of Blackout, filled with half-assed songs. That’s why it would have probably been better if Circus had been a Blackout part 2 EP. Imo it would have been better if they had capitalized on Blackout’s surprising success . Either way, Circus doesn’t feel like a finished product, and that’s why it’s this low on my list. Highlights: The Singles; Out From Under; Kill The Lights; Shattered Glass. 7)…Baby One More Time Britney’s debut is a great underrated album by her fans. Beside the title track being an iconic smash, almost all the songs on the album still slay and serve that 90’s nostalgia that you need in your life, without being too nostalgic since nostalgia’s for geeks . Born To Make You Happy & I Will Still Love You alone are some of her most underrated songs ever. Now, I might be a little biased since I’m a sucker for 90’s RnB, but still… Highlights: Title-Track, Sometimes; Born To Make You Happy; I Will Still Love You; I Will Be There. 6)Femme Fatale Femme Fatale is honestly the perfect album to play during a party. Every song is a bop, and even tho the lyrics are mediocre, the album still slays hard! Her voice really doesn’t sound the best, but I still think it sounds better than most of Circus. The album is full of hooks, and the production is great too. It sucks that Britney wasn’t really feeling this era, since the music and the singles were amazing. I mean, Drop Dead Gorgeous saved the gays in 2011 (alongside Born To Slay obviously)! Highlights: Till The World Ends; I Wanna Go; Hold It Against Me; Drop Dead (Bautiful); Inside Out; Seal It With A Kiss. 5)Britney Britney’s first Self Titled album opens our top5! This is another criminally underrated album by her. One can make a point that the album has too much filler, but honestly, even in the worst song of the album, Britney sounds fierce and confident in what she’s singing. I’m sure this album means a lot to her, every song sounds true to what she was going through at the time. It’s refreshing to hear Britney sound so honest and comfortable in her own skin, if you know what I mean . The vocals are some of her best and the album managed to sell 10M copies WW even tho her music was banned from a lot of US stations. Highlights: I’m A Slave 4 U; Overprotected; Lonely; I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman; Cinderella; Let Me Be. 4)Glory Godney’s last effort, Glory everybody! It has a 72 on metacritic, so y’all can’t say it’s a bad album In all honesty Glory is a really good album. Her voice sounds the best since In The Zone, she seems happy with how it turned out, and even the Deluxe version slays! It totally deserved more commercial success, and it’s a shame that it wasn’t managed better. After Femme Fatale, a good album, but an album where she sounds dead, and after the mess that was Britney Jean, I really wasn’t expecting Britney to serve me an album with vocals like the ones one What You Need and Just Like Me. And yes, the production of this album is very radio oriented, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Britney is a pop star, so it’s no surprise that 18 years into her career she’ll make radio friendly music. A radio friendly album doesn’t equal a bad album! Highlights: Slumber Party, Do You Wanna Come Over?; Just Luv Me; Man On The Moon; Hard To Forget Ya; Change Your Mind. 3)Oops…I Did It Again Top 3 y’all! If you like funky music, this is your album. Oops definitely deserves its place as one of Britney’s best albums. It’s the album where Britney starts reflecting on her life, instead of taking everything for granted. The lyrical content is very good, especially considering this album was targeted at a young audience. It’s also Britney’s album with the most anthem-like songs: Stronger, Oops, Lucky, What U See Is What U Get, Don’t Go Knockin’ and Don’t Let Me The Last To Know are all songs that feel like big songs. It’s also arguably her most cohesive album, with little dialogues connecting songs here and there! Highlights: Title-Track; Stronger; Lucky; What U See (Is What U Get); Don’t Go Knockin’ On My Door; One Kiss From You; Where Are You Now. 2)Blackout It’s Blackout bitch! Surprise surprise, it’s not number 1! Here’s the thing, both Blackout and In The Zone are Britney’s best albums/ With Blackout she introduced the world to not only a new image, but also to a new sound, that’s also the reason the album is part of the Rock n’ Roll Hall Of Fame library. The album is full of electronic beats and hooks and the production is just amazing. Also, it’s hard for me to believe that she hasn’t written Piece Of Me, but that’s another story. I don’t have much else to say about this masterpiece . It’s extremely cohesive, in both sound and topic, Britney sounds amazing in it, and the only downfall of the album is not having a deep cut. Highlights: Piece Of Me; Break The Ice; Gimme More; Radar; Heaven On Earth; Toy Soldier. 1)In The Zone In The Zone is Britney’s best album everybody! You heard it from me I mean, it is her only Grammy winning album (with Toxic winning best dance recording), so… Despite not being as cohesive as Blackout, or even Oops, you cant’s deny the diversity of this album. You go from something like Boom Boom to Everytime, and it all feels like a journey, from partying your heart out to crying after you realize that your relationship is a disaster. Britney also experiments a lot with different sounds in this album. Toxic and Breathe On Me both have electronic elements and sound nothing like what was popular at the time. Touch Of My Hand on the other hand is a career highlight and sounds like something from Ray Of Light + Erotica, which is always a compliment The album honestly has it all, an iconic collaboration (Me Against The Music), two legends in one song, and the video is just amazing; an iconic smash ( Toxic); beautiful ballads (Everytime, Shadow); major bops (Boom Boom, The Hook Up, Outrageous); low key bops (Early Mornin’, Showdown), it really has it all! The era imo also has 3 of Britney's biggest achievements: 1.Toxic winning a Grammy; 2.Everytime, a ballad completely written by Brit, smashing; 3.The Onyx Hotel Tour which slayed hard Also, from some recent interviews, you can tell she wanted the album to delve into more serious topics, and you can see that from some of her leaked songs from that period, like Take Off for example. It’s nice to know that even tho her label might not have let her release those type of songs, her desire was there! Highlights: Toxic, Me Against Music, Breathe On Me, Touch Of My Hand; The Hook Up, Everytime. Feel free to discuss everybody, and thank you for reading! I can bop to any song from the first three, that's why ITZ and Britney are lower, even though they have killer tracks (ITZ has Toxic, for example). I like dancin', and ponies....
