Ed Sheeran's Perfect becomes his fourth Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart

Ed Sheeran claims the Number 1 spot on the Official Singles Chart this week as his latest single, Perfect, climbs to the top, propelled by a new version featuring Beyonce.

Perfect earns Ed his fourth Number 1 single, following Sing and Thinking Out Loud in 2014 and Shape Of You earlier this year

I guess talent doesn't win either way :selena:

stealing writing credits for changing "her" to "he" isnt talent (if she actually did change them, Ed certainly did)

It's that way because the UK charts don't take remixes into account. If a song propels up the charts because of a remix, the original version will be the one credited as making the sales. Basically, any additions made afterwards is irrelevant because the original version will still be benefitting. Sales of remixes will still go towards the sales tally for the original at the end of the day. Which I think is a good thing. It means that artists can't look to claim a #1 off someone else's song by offering to do a remix with them only because they might get something out of it.
