does this change things about melanie's accusations..?

so i was checking wikipedia to see if they updated melanie's page with the rape accusations and i was a bit surprised to read this:

On December 4, 2017, Timothy Heller, a woman with whom Martinez once shared a relationship, claimed via Twitter Martinez had sexually assaulted and raped her some time prior to Martinez's appearance on The Voice.

was this known already? or did i miss it? because for me it affects how i feel about the situation.

melanie is 22. she appeared on the voice in 2012. the assault happened before that. this means it happened back when melanie was 16 years old.

what this doesn't change is the victim's side of the story - i still feel awful for timothy, especially knowing she was so young when this happened.

however i do feel less disgusted with melanie, because i can't hold her equally accountable for what she did at 16 and had she done it now. she was a minor, and rape culture was not at all in the public awareness as it is today. 

i just don't know how to feel about this. knowing all of this happened when melanie was a minor (on drugs) and before her career even started... i have to say it changes how i feel about the situation.

however the most important thing is the victim and that she gets the care and recovery she needs.

And no, it doesn't change the fact that she is still (allegedly) a rapist  whose actions are revolting

Nobody knows when it happened (except the 2 of course and maybe some close friends). We only know that they were friends over a period of time. Everything else is pure speculation

Noone knows the situation. I wonder where that bit of information came from, because Heller's accusation didn't explicitly state a time frame.

I don't know where they got the prior to the voice part from because Timmy never said when in her post. And her post seems as if part of the "power" she's referring too is melanie's stardom, which would mean after the voice.

I know little about melanie but yeah I won't bother to start following her career

People are capable of understanding what is right and what is wrong at age 16. Also thank you for making me feel so uncomfortable now, I was sexually assaulted at 16 by a 17 year old, it feels really great to have people say "Minors are not capable of really understanding consent, this changes the situation." Really makes me go from feeling useless and worthless to useless, worthless AND helpless.

i knew someone was gonna come and twist my words. don't even try. i insisted that the situation does NOT change, only how i feel about melanie.

But that doesn't line up to what Timothy says. Timothy talks about her having a solid fanbase at the time and they were friends up until Crybaby debuted which is around when timothy says the assault took place. Or am I getting something wrong?

If you’re going to let someone’s opinion on the internet make you feel worthless, you need to check yourself. This is such a childish response. The OP does not have to feel accountable for making you feel worthless because they posted an opinion on the internet
