In the defense of Witness

I have a bad habit. Instantly, I don't hear or see any albums or movies which are widely talked by people (except GAGA). I usually take some time to cope up with the hype. So after 5 months later, I have listened to Witness fully. People are very negative about Witness, even the critics bashed her. Personally, I enjoyed the album. I don't consider myself as a music expert. I am a person who likes to listen and like to feel. And I felt good. Katy Perry was expressing her inner self on it. Good job Katy! Your work will be appreciated after a few years later. Then all the people will be saying this, 'Witness was misunderstood'.

My favorite tracks from Witness are Deja Vu, Chained To The Rhythm, Witness, Power, Mind Maze, Tsunami

I think katy followed her heart with this album and I respect that. tbh it isn't a bad body of work, just nothing to rave home about. I love the title track its fun

Meh - I’ve grown to like a few tracks BUT it just is a bore to me.

Most of the lyrics are so cringey but they are better than most of the lyrics on reputation :bon:

The only good tracks are Witness and Chained To The Rhythm. The lyrics are cringey af. The production is soulless and generic. Boring af :bon: Sorry not sorry.mp3. It's her worst album after OOTB, which actually has gems like I Kissed A Girl :lolly:

Witness is my favorite Katy album.

Bon Appetit, Roulette, Tsunami, Miss You More, Bigger Than Me, Pendulum, CTTR, the title track... so many bops.

Mirages

Honestly I couldn't bare listening to that album more than once, every song sounded the same to me, the production was nice quality I give her that, lyrics were very cringey and it felt like a teenager wrote it, not a 30 yrs old woman. It all just mixed for me into one mess. But I wasn't surprised I have never liked Katy's music much. I liked her first album the most out of all her affords, but not entirely (only I Kissed a Girl, Waking Up in Vegas and Thinking of You), from Teenage Dream I liked only the title track and from Prism just Walking On Air. So for me it was a big bust.

I have never liked anything Katy [except E.T. original version] so when I heard everyone hated Witness I wanted to hear how terrible it was and laugh too. I found myself enjoying it! It really isn't that bad, I think people just wanted to bring down a popstar for bashing on forums.

Same. Don't think it's as bad as people say it is. It's certainly no Teenage Dream but it's just about as good as Prism imo. :gaycat:
