Warner Bros. Television and the estate of J.R.R. Tolkien are in talks with Amazon Studios to develop a series based on the late author’s “The Lord of the Rings” novels. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is said by sources with knowledge of the situation to be personally involved in the negotiations, which are still in very early stages. No deal has been set.

Aren’t 6 3-hour-long movies enough tho

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

One part of me is excited since i am a huge fan of the Tolkien universe, but another part of me wishes they stopped milking the brand.

I don't know if Tolkien would have approved of this though :spin:

Until then, this is Elvira saying unpleasant dreams.

readyforit.mp3 depending on the cast...

it’d be very difficult to fill Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving and Christopher Lee’s shoes, but more LoTR is always good! (unless PJackson is involved because The Hobbit was a mess) :selena:

SEXODUS

It always looked to me like Christopher Tolkien wasn't gonna let anyone touch his father's work after The Hobbit trilogy. He spoke about it like it was set in stone, so I'm really not confident this sail's gonna ship anytime soon. I'd be shook for another sip of the LOTR universe but tbh I'd be too afraid of them ruining a classic the same way they've done with every remake lately.

Amazon need to do concert tickets. So tired with incapable ticket master for doing nothing to minimize scalpers, instead it get worse.  I hope Amazon run them out of business.

Jackson wasn't the original director of the Hobbit, he was added on last minute. So the fault isnt 100% his.

They should leave the trilogy alone! It's only been like 15 years since FotR.

Seems like everyone is out of original ideas these days.. everything is either a remake, or another version of something someone already just (recently) did... If they are wanting to do a series why not a complete Narnia, starting with the Magicians Nephew (the actual starting point/one that has yet to see the screen)?

The First Narnia movie was and they just ruined it with the other movies so giving a fresh start to Narnia would be really great.

We have LOTR trilogy, 3 masterpieces and one of the best movies ever.

It doesn't get better than that so it's a big NO for me.

We need a series for the events of The Silmarillion first.

This! I doubt the Tolkien Estate will give up those rights easily though.

I agree on both accounts. PJ wanted the hobbit to be 2 movies which would have been quite ok. I liked the addition of the necromancer angle for example.

While I am highly interested in a series based LOTR, they really should have let more time pass before even considering another adaptation.
