I'll attach a video of the appearance in a spoiler below. Spoiler However, after the appearance, Dolly Parton received tremendous backlash from Trump supporters for not making a public statement in support of the President on the main stage. For weeks after her appearance, all forms of her social media were full of Trump supporters threatening to boycott everything associated with her brand. She has responded to the backlash in multiple interviews including the one below: (The controversy is addressed from 6:25-8:35) What are your thoughts on the whole situation? Moreover, in terms of the overall political climate, at what point have we arrived when Trump supporters attack not only those actively speaking out against him BUT ALSO those who don't address him in any capacity? Moreover, I have no idea why they believe a woman who supports the LGBTQ community, is involved in real philanthropic work, and has spent her whole life avoiding politics would somehow support the orange man publically just because "It's Trump". I just wish there was an effective way to rope in all the hate from Trump supporters. There's already enough hate/biggotry in this world.
