Bruno Le Maire also warned Britain faces a painful life outside the European Union. His remarks build on statements made by French prime minister Emmanuel Macron, who has been explicit about his ambitions for a federal Europe. Britain's decision to leave the EU has injected a heightened sense of urgency into politicians around the continent who dream of a European nation. Speaking at a World Bank event in Washington on 13 October, Le Maire said: "I think what we need within the Eurozone is more unity and more ambition. "I don't want speak about the Eurozone. I want to speak about an economic continent. We are not speaking about a dollar zone – we are speaking about the United States, which is a great country." And tomorrow I want to speak about not the Eurozone but speak about Europe as a great country, with a great economy, with growth, with employment, with education, with investment and innovation," he added, as reported by European news site The Local. Nineteen of the EU's 28 member states make up the Eurozone. From the very inception of the Euro, economists warned that monetary union would be a disaster without deeper political integration. Europe will disappear in irrelevancy in this century with growing forces in China, Nigeria and India. If Europe wants to continue to have a say in the world it needs to unite and would become de facto the new leader of the world. (The EU economy and population outnumbers the one of the USA). For EU citizen nothing much will change considering we can already move freely within the EU. Probably there are even positive effect like Greece and Spain could probably reduce their unemployment rate and their debts would be cut probably. I see only two paths, either we stand together, or we become irrelevant in few decades. But this will definitely not be an easy task, if possible at all. Don't know much about Nigeria () but China/India are major forces that could easily outshadow the EU and its power in a mater of time. They (Europe) have to stand united to remain powerful and relevant. Just like you mentioned, they could easily be new de facto power especially with the US confused, disarrayed, and in shambles. Each country will probably be a state or territory in this new big country (though I can see regions of current countries becoming their own territory in this new unified Europe).
