DiscoHeaven23 35,007
These are the performances of Madonna's singles from the 80's on the Billboard Hot 100. Charting rules were different back then, so longevity on the charts was much shorter. Songs that blocked her #2 peaks (Madonna holds the record for most #2 songs): Material Girl: "Can't Stop This Feeling" - REO Speedwagon & "One More Night" by Phil Collins Causing a Commotion: "Bad" by Michael Jackson & "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany Express Yourself: "If You Don't Know Me By Now" by Simply Red & "Toy Soldiers" by Mortice Cherish: "Miss You Much" by Janet Jackson MADONNA Holiday (1983/1984) 1st Week: #88 -October 1983 2nd Week: #76 3rd Week: #68 4th Week: #60 5th Week: #55 6th Week: #45 7th Week: #39 8th Week: #33 9th Week: #31 10th Week: #31 11th Week: #27 12th Week: #25 13th Week: #17 14th Week: #16 - That J 12,166
Yup it's always interesting seeing such iconic songs blocked from number one like Material Girl and Express Yourself. I enjoy how back then there was a lead up to peak positions. Everything didn't debut at 3, peak and drop. There was a push and that was fun about radio in the day. Oh well. Love this thread. Hope you'll continue it thru Music at least 😉 The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw
