Yes honey she has to go back to pop like tc was huge since it stayed in the higher half of itunes top 100 with no promo, doubled her spotify monthly listeners and the streaming was just really good it surpassed 100 000 000 in less time than mr

Promotion, she herself is the same but the way she is promoted and promoting herself has changed massively

I don't think Gaga herself wanted to pursue any hits or promo this era. She has been dealing with a lot of emotional changes and chronic pain over the past few years. Maybe next album cycle her pain will be better managed and she will reconcile her relationship with her scariest fans and the radio (which I think is part of what drove her away from wanting to top the charts). Or maybe she will never care about getting a hit again.

I do agree with you that I miss her televised performances and high-concept music videos a LOT   Actually what I miss the most is new fashion photos to consume daily. It spawned bloggers giving links to each designer of each piece, which helped me discover so many new brands and designers. It spawned hair and makeup trends and encouraged so many people to be unapologetically their weird selves 24/7

My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <3

Promo, and consistency with her mv's, as evidenced in "Edge of Glory", "Perfect Illusion", and "Million Reasons". Those songs all deserved much, much better.

Other than that, she is on top of her game.

She hasn't lost her touch. She's just doing things differently this time around. She know that she'll be around forever and even if not that's not her priority anymore.

When ARTPOP wasn't as good as expected and underperformed probably Interscope cut her budget and put her on the side since she doesn't do good on streaming and world today is all about that :/

A lot of people have been mentioning the ARTPOP era and the backstage drama that surrounded it. I'd just add that 2009-2014 were the years when she had touring every single year, and I don't remember in which thread, but I did some calculations to compare her touring schedule of 2009-2014 with the schedules of the great artists in the 80s. Gaga's touring schedule was insane and exhausting. On average she had like 1 show every four days or something, which limited her freedom a lot. There is like no way that she didn't reflect on that when she suffered the injury in 2013. She realized that her personal life in the 2009-2012 turned into short breaks between tours and promotion activity, because there would be few people (friends and family) who would gladly agree to travel with her everywhere he concert schedule called. And she probably re-evaluated her promotion approach.

As for her music videos. Ever since Alejandro, she didn't work with a special, acclaimed film/video directors (excluding her most recent John Wayne). She has great vision, but the abilities of directors are greater than hers when it comes to shooting music videos. Her Golden Streak (Paparazzi, Bad Romance, Telephone, Alejandro) owes a great deal to the fruitful collaborations with directors. Why did she quit contacting them after Alejadro is a mystery. I don't know about the reasons, nobody knows, we can only guess. But when she paired with Klein for FAME short film, it was more than geat.

Mmm the promo thing is a tricky one. Now that she's an actor she hits up promo more frequently and with Cheek to Cheek and the Super Bowl as well so I think it was hard more her to get promo everywhere.

About MVs, they're the Joanne aesthetic. She'll come back with something crazy when she has something with a firmer concept. I bet that DiC would have had a higher concept video. Everything sexual with her goes high concept lol

I thought BTW was really nice! The intro was especially fantastic and beautiful. I also love TEOG's video. It's fitting for the song and feels authentic even if more low budget. Also Inez and Vinoodh did great work with Applause! Other than that I agree with you.

you've just read my mind! There's nothing more thrilling about her videos for me than the opening of Born This Way, I can stare in it like in fire without blinking. The Edge of Glory is absolutely 80s and kickass, it's just that a bit more budget wouldn't harm and Applause is perfection.

Don't know why though. Gaga can do what most streaming acts can't do, which is selling out tours in minutes.
