AlexanderMagno 10,746
Emotion by Carly Rae Jepsen. A flop. It didn't sell much anywhere in the world (let's not even remember that Carly Rae Jepsen had one of the biggest hits of the Youtube golden age). The numbers are embarassing, even in Carly's home country. Despite the total flop, it garnered a true cult following. The album slowly and unexpectedly became one of the most critically acclaimed albums of that year and it completely changed Carly's career by giving her a status of indie girl sweetheart. It is nowadays remembered in every pop forum and very mentioned. Velvet Underground and Nico (THIS IS THE MOST ICONIC FLOP ALBUM OF ALL TIME) Commercial failure for many, many years. Decades later, it was finally recognised as one of the most influential albums of all time. That album is pretty much considered the father of modern music. The music we listen to nowadays was shaped after this album. A total, utter flop back then. And the cover is equally iconic. Enough said. I see people using the word "iconic" as a joke. You seriously think any albums mentioned above are really the most iconic flop OF ALL TIME?

I just came across it. But apparently the alter ego was based on an Australian singer who died young. Idk. The album cover is just weird. It's like Garth Brooks as a pop singer in a parallel universe.

RichAssPiss 4,924
The correct answer is Glitter. Mariah signed the biggest contract of all time with Virgin. The album was released on 9/11 of all possible days. It was a huge disaster that forever dimmed her career. With the exception of Emancipation of Mimi, she has not had a major hit album since. Virgin spent millions more just to buy her out of her multi-million dollar contract and never release another album with her. Plus, the public meltdowns like the TRL ice cream moment. Glitter.
