We Gotta Talk About Alessia Cara

Alessia Cara, 20, has been in the mainstream music industry for 2 years now. In that time span she has earned 4 Top 10 hits in the US.

Here: #5 (peaked in January 2016)

Scars to Your Beautiful: #8 (peaked in February 2017)

Stay: #7 (peaked in April 2017)

1-800-273-8255: #3 *s far* (peaked in September 2017)

But for some reason I feel like we never hear about her. For someone with 4 Top 10 hits in the last 2 years, it's so odd that she's not really talked about. She's had more hits in the last 2 years then many singers who are constantly in the public eye. Why do you think this is?

Hits don’t always equate to relevancy and interest. Specifically, I think the issue with her is that she just isn’t memorable as a personality; she doesn’t exude a star quality and she’s very low-key, which would contribute to the lack of public exposure. She is rather young though, so there’s a chance that she’ll make it in the future and have a place as a major pop act.

She doesn't have any impact or sort of that lately.

But her musics are great and meaningful:hug:

I belive she'll be known in the future. She's a talent :lolly:

I totally agree with you. 4 top 10 hits, yet i've never heard her voice, i don't know who she is. It's like she had 0 impact, less than some one semi-hit wonders (Natalie La Rose, Kiesza). But also

We could also discuss how her song "Scars to your Beautiful" is a horrible anthem to try and uplift those with eating disorders.

We aren't all girls, and not all of us starve ourselves for attention or envy.

Scars to Your Beautiful was the most payola’d song of 2017. Radio shoving her down our throats made me dislike her a little even though she’s decently talented.

Her image doesn't have much distinction to make her stand out from every other "Spotify artists"

PS no shade but when I saw her dressed plain on the VMA's I almost had a meltdown like that's VMA's why are you dressed like you're going to the mall:selena:

Shes kinda blah. Shes not great live. Her music wears on you. I really think she is just passing by.

It is a horrible song because it was so awfully written. My friend and I, both having eating disorders, find it to be...forced. :madge:

The only thing that's wowed me is her performance with Logic.

"Scars to your beautiful" is a confusing title for a song :laughga:
