Things To Be Thankful For In The Joanne Era

In these dark, trying times where our hero is in so much pain, her detractors, and even some of her own fans, calling the BS-card, let us take time to remember the good things Gaga gave us this era.

Spreading Love

Joanne may not be Born This Way but she has NOT stopped to send love to her fans and to preach it to the world. She told everyone to come to her, and she paid homage to angels that fell down due to hate. She continued with her message and stood by it.

One Good One to Stay

Gaga lost a LOT. She lost a romantic relationship, she lost the support of the public, and she lost a lot of her fans. But she fought so damn hard for herself, for the fans that remained steadfast and for her career to get back on track. Despite all the media lashings, she has regained much of the respect and critical acclaim. And this is not an easy thing to accomplish. She proved she had the talent and the determination to rise above the challenge.

Superbowl Halftime

The biggest stage in America. The stage many acts would do much for just to be able to play it. Our gal not only played the halftime show--she owned it. Most watched and most Emmy-nominated. Biggest sales-boost to an artist's back-catalog. Brought her back to the media even more. She did not just earn this milestone, she made a milestone out of this milestone.

MetalliGa

A lot of Gaga's fans are metalheads and rockers so this was a blessing for me, personally. Not to mention Gaga proved her versatility yet again. This time with metal. Unfortunate technical problems aside, she killed it. And she proved to people yet again that she isn't just another blonde popstar.

Coachella

As if performing on the SBHT wasn't proof enough, she tackled another major stage to prove her performance prowess. She played her deep cuts and fan favorites and wowed the world yet again.

Music and Some Bling

Gaga delivered quality music with Joanne. While her detractors call it "dated", I call it "timeless". Joanne tracks sit perfectly well among my 80's rock-bangers and country-folk ballads. The title track is one of her most emotionally powerful tracks and the 1, 2, 3 punch of John Wayne, Dancin' in Circles and Perfect Illusion is well-supported by surrounding tracks A-Yo, Million Reasons and Sinner's Prayer, making Joanne one of her best side-A's among her discography. That isn't to say the B-tracks are lackluster. They aren't. They simply tackle a different vibe. The after-party vibe that addresses the pains that surface after intoxication and being hung-over. And a bit of the joy and camaraderie found from those moments, too.

The Cure is a gift to us and basically meant Gaga has (and will have) released music yearly since 2013 up to next year.

Despite all odds, the current radio trend, Gaga had decent sales, and, in a time when most doubted she could even reach top 10 of the Hot 100, she broke top 5 to reach top 4 with Million Reasons. Not to mention she boosted her streams a bit with the help of the Cure. Her radio presence was revived in the UK and Australia with the Cure.

Headlining Stadiums

Gaga continues to show that she is a touring force this era. Yea, she had to reschedule and cancel some shows but the fact remains that she has done an excellent average gross so far, finally played stadiums in the US, became the first woman to headline a number of stadiums, and also collected acclaim from publications who watched her show(s). And those are nothing to scoff about!

Gaga: the Thespian

You may hate how A Star is Born interfered with The Cure's potential promo roll-out but this guarantees new music to look forward to next year (again meaning she has annual releases since 2013). This also means she is building up her brand on acting (which started well with a Golden Globe win) and could potentially be nominated for at the Oscars! And that's just ASIB! We also got American Horror Story: Roanoke this era, which included using Perfect Illusion as promo! And Gaga was also present in Toronto International Film Fest, which I think really helped cement Gaga being taken as an actress seriously, to debut her documentary Five Foot Two, which chronicles pretty much this era and what helped shape it up. I am personally excited to watch it this Friday.

So there! Lots of things to be thankful for this era. I may have missed a few things, even!

What are you especially thankful for this era?

Even though a lot of people hate this era, I appreciate and love the album, the mind blowing tour which I have yet to attend in early 2018 and the whole outfits of this era. I remember she once went to Joanne’s in New York and she had like a big pink coat on, her hat and a big smile on her face. She looked so stunning and happy on those pictures. I think that’s what I love about the Joanne era, the love, the happiness and the kindness?

A friend of mine complimented me on this as well, and I was like, isn’t that human decency? She’s suffering in a hospital, I don’t want her to suffer on stage just because we want to see her. I’d rather see her on stage happy with a big smile on her face, and not being hurt then suffering from extreme pains. I had to only wait fifteen days before she came here and while I was disappointed a little bit at first, I was more concerned about her health to be honest.

it's been one of my favourite eras tbh

embracing the entire joanne vibes and aesthetic of kindness, love, family, healing and happiness has been very healing and her whole attitude and style this era has been very relatable and helpful for me

at first, in 2016, i was very frustrated with the era but as it went on i realised it's more about what's on the inside than out the outside

Also, maybe this is a little bit weird but I really love all the Million Reasons performances? Some people thought it was a little bit of an overkill but I loved the Victoria Secret Fashion Show performance and the performance at the Royal Variety Show. Her voice sounded beautiful at those performances! And the countless other performances.. also, when I came here I was dragging artists, being extremely messy sometimes but her campaign of spreading kindness and love kinda set me back on the right track and I actually regret being so messy.

I love how much of a journey she's had with us this year ongoing. She's been so in touch with her fans and it's just amazing to even think about. All the performances, the music, the films, all the joy that she's shared with us while getting to do what she loves with who she loves. I'm thankful that she just exists.

Yes, I also do love partying in moving houses as seen in that one Bacardi tv ad.

Why are our threads so similar lmao :sharon:

OT: I'm so thankful for the Joanne era and proud that Gaga taken this route in her career. Not only it paid off, but made this one of her stronger eras.
