It might help to understand that it's not so easy to reclaim/issolate the word and that the difference isn't also as clear cut. 

I feel like black people using the word is somehow bad, because most of the times it's being used to belittle someone. ''_____ trynna destroy me, but I'm unstoppable'' ''_____ don't mess with me'' and so on. Generally. Just like how some gay people use ''f*****''' in a derogatory way most of the time. It's a part of pop culture and people think it's cool to use it.

gay people have reclaimed the word fgt. but do they use it on each other? no, because they have experienced the discrimination behind this word themselves, and it probably has been said to them at some point in their life in a derogatory way. we don't call each other that, and the word just started fading. i don't hear kids calling each other fags because the use of the word is declining and they don't hear it anywhere to use it.

i do however hear kids calling each other the n-word, and that's because they still hear the word in the media (heck, i literally had no clue what the meaning of the word was until a few years ago, because i'd never have guessed that it's a forbidden word since it's used so frequently in music). i just have no clue how reclaiming a word means using it on each other. i don't call my friends terrorists to 'reclaim' this arab insult. i find it so disrespectful towards the millions of black people who were enslaved and suffered from being called that word, the fact that millionaires who have never been slaves use it so nonchalantly in their music. i can already hear the quote buttons being smashed and essays being written, i know i'll probably be told to mind my own business and not concern myself with a race i don't belong to, so spare yourselves. im just seeing it from a HUMAN point of view, any word that was used to describe a human who was discriminated against, enslaved, tortured, starved (i.e treated in a non-human way by disgusting savages) should rot and not be used by other humans who were none of those things.

Are some of you seriously implying that the n-word carries just as much weight as terms like crackers, vanilla or mayonnaise?

The difference between the n-word and some of the mocking terms hurled at white people is that the former has a historical significance to it, and it still lives on till present time. It was used to remind black people that for hundreds of years that they were inferior to whites, and they don't deserve to assert any bit of their rights as a human being. So if you're not black and you're using the n-word, you basically fail to understand that the word has a really negative connotation to it. It makes you extremely insensitive and ignorant, point blank.

Don't have the time to quote people but this is largely an American-centric issue and they way some of you who don't live in the US speak about this it is very evident you aren't as informed as people who do live here.
