PewDiePie Apologizes

It also isn't the first time he has used the n-word, it's just the first time he has really had this reaction against him.

He included those 'slip ups' in videos he recorded and edited. Strange that that word keeps 'accidentally' slipping out, strange that he included the word in those videos instead of editing them out and strange that he didn't learn from those 'heat of the moment' slip ups and stop using the word.

technically he himself didn't say anti-jewish slurs, the media kinda twisted that one a little :poot: even though what he did could have been avoided completely and easily without the use of slurs :poot:

but yeah, i'm off the pewdiepie fan train now, his recent stuff was funny because he was over youtube but you really can't defend a racist mess :smh:

He literally payed two dudes to say: death to all Jews

how is that not anti Semitic ?

i did not say being racist isn't malicious :saladga:

he said the word in the heat of the situation and it was not meant to degrade black ppl, don't get me wrong i'm not saying that what he did isn't wrong.

how are you certain of this  :awkney:

He said the word in the heat of the situation as an insult. That means he has to *consider* it an insult in the first place. If a word, that is derogatorily used to refer to black people and has grave historical connotations, is intentionally being used as an insult, that is degrading.

How come most other people don't angrily blurt that? Because we don't use it in real life at all. He's probably used to saying it which is why it came to his mouth.

maybe because it is a joke, it is as anti-semitic joke, but that in no way makes him or his acting anti-semitic

neither is him saying ***** being rasist, because his intention is not to insult black people

for example, you can act feminine, but that does not mean you are gay

He is a racist white guy and disgusting.

He isn't a racist though, if we were to keep it real. Yeah of course he's not supposed to use the word and he deserves the backlash for it for sure but that doesn't really change his values and views on people of color.

it's a deep gaming community problem, they will use whatever word they can think of to insult each other when they're in a stressful situation or extremely frustrated. I witnessed that more than I wish I have.

There isn't much else he can do but to apologize and improve upon his insensitive mistakes. He's bound to make mistakes but unlike your mistakes his are judged by the entire world.

The last time it happened the reaction was even worse and it was one of the reasons to cause companies to take their ads from youtube (there were more reasons) which  resulted in all youtubers earning much less, he was also fired from disney and had to cancel a series that he's been working on with other people.

It's ridiculous to claim that he "gets away with it" when in reality he didn't and he admitted that he should have known better this time considering the consequences he had last time.

I cringed really bad when I heard he did it again and he deserves this reaction from people but what do people expect when they say "he got away with it" ? Should his entire life be ruined for it for people to let go? Is that the worst a person on youtube has ever done? All aside he genuinely regretted it.

Hey, I might be wrong, but the nazi stuff with the WSJ is what caused that reaction and the backlash. The videos of him saying the n-word in previous videos was WAYYY before all that blew up. These are his videos pre-beard playing GTA with a worse camera than he does now and all of that.

This was pre-wsj controversy...

(1:59) This was pre-WSJ controversy...

This new controversy, from my perspective, only blew up because of his past controversy with WSJ - the videos above are videos way before all that where he uses the n-word. He didn't apologise for that, he never has, it wasn't even a livestream - he edited those videos so the word was included....

Hell, he even has the video "I WON AN AWARD!" still up on his channel...

There should be some repercussions, especially since this is a repeat offence... I mean jeez, The Fine Bros got a far worse negative reaction for their dumb controversy. How many times should Pewdiepie get a pass? Okay he said the n-word in a couple of videos a couple years back, okay he got some kids on fiverr to make a sign reading "Death to Jews" and made Nazi jokes, okay he dropped the n-word again in a video...

I'm not saying 'lock him in jail' but you'd think there would be some backlash, you'd think he'd lose some supporters, you'd think he might get at the very least some kind of soft ban.

This is ideally the sort of reaction I'd like:

(The rest of his statements on this are great).

I'd love more game developers to distance themselves from him and refuse to make money from a content creator who makes racist and anti-semitic jokes

Also... At what point do PewDiePie fans sit back and go:

"I can't support this dude... He makes anti-semitic and racist jokes, his 'apology' videos amount to 'There is no excuse.... Except that I was taken out of context or it was in the heat of the moment' and it's a pattern of behaviour that he hasn't learned from"?

Well, apologising is the very least he could do. I'm not really impressed by his apology. I think it's dumb that he said things like "It was something that I said in the heat of the moment" and "it just sort of slipped out" just before saying he had no excuses for saying it. Those are your excuses Felix, those are the reasons you are giving to downplay what you said and excuse your behaviour as a 'stupid mistake'.

It's kind of crazy that there are people who defend him.

We've gotten to the point where there are people out there like "Yeah, he did say the n-word and that's not cool... but in context..." and people like "OMG SJW idiots are going after pewds because he accidently let the n-word slip"

Apparently now it's just fair play to use any racial slurs. Unless somebody just straight out says "I'm a racist!" then it's all just a little ambiguous and the offender might have just somehow accidently let a racial slur roll of their tongue unexpectedly.

I can't say that I'll stop watching his content, because I never really watched him at any time, but I would hope there are some consequences for this. Pewdiepie has an influence over those who watch him and they are of the opinion that it's no biggie and that since he apologised it doesn't matter anymore.

A better step would be if he made a video explaining why what he said was totally unacceptable, the history of the word, why it's such a serious thing to say, why people were right to criticise his language and why his audience shouldn't use the same language. Something without the excuses and the attempts to downplay what he said.

This is weak, it's just BS that people can say to just avoid the consequences of their words and actions. "I said something super offensive... Sorry, it was a mistake on my part and not at all cool - I'm super reflective and aware of how not cool this was of me - Okay, we've finished with all that now!! Lets all move on as if nothing ever happened and brush this all under the rug!!! Whooo!! More stupid videos!! No consequences for my words and actions!!!"

Pretty much what I want to say, especially after my comment in the last thread about this subject.

OT: If anyone doesn't know what I'm talking, I'll explain later.

Bloody hooker

Please read the whole post before reacting.

Based on what I said in the other thread, it is not what I meant AT ALL!

What meant by what I said is that I DO NOT support that he used that word. He or anyone else should never use it. I won't support him for using derogatory jokes or racial slurs, but I still enjoy his YouTube content for entertainment purposes only, nothing more. For example, I don't like Azealia Banks as a person, but I enjoy her songs. I just wanted to make that clear.

As for this, at least he apologized. I already felt bad that his YouTube Red show got cancelled, but not too much anymore. He should go on hiatus, or slowly, yet efficiently, end his YouTube career. He had a good run, and will be remembered for his good and bad deeds.

To everyone I at right now, I just remembered who 'excuse me no', and I just wanted to set things straight while I can. I'm a nice person, and I can't handle negativity all that well. That's why I'm doing this. This is not meant to call you out AT ALL. If you or anyone actually want to discuss Pewdiepie and my response, just DM me.
