Fibromyalgia syndrome improved using a mostly raw vegetarian diet: An observational study...

"In summary, a diet intervention using a mostly raw, pure vegetarian diet produced dramatic improvements in FMS symptoms. 19 of 30 participants responded very favorably to the intervention, seeing marked improvement in all FMS symptoms. This dietary intervention shows that many fibromyalgia subjects can be helped even without understanding the full cause of their symptoms. Further controlled studies are needed to reproduce and extend the results obtained here to see if this dietary intervention is a viable adjunctive therapy for managing fibromyalgia in a clinical setting."

Honestly if raw/vegan foods were the legit cure for fibromyalgia, I'm pretty sure that doctors would have already found out.I'm not really a fan of this "vegan/whole foods cure everything" mentality because I don't get how not eating meat is going to make your nervous system work properly.

Reminds me of this girl called Belle Gibson who even wrote a book about how whole foods had cured her terminal cancer and in the end it turned out that she didn't even have cancer on the first place...

Edit: before y'all quote me... I know eating clean has benefits but from that to solving all your health problems...

You guys are cool, just listen to people and don't believe all medicines are meant to heal. Be suspicious, there are some very odd things out there. People get treatments that harm them and you should be careful if you even find yourself in a similar situation.

Why wouldn't they be? Sure, some people's treatments are not successful, but I don't think that is on purpose.

In case it's explained on the video above, I'll watch it now

If anything is a "simple fix" it's probably fake. If some people think it helps with the pain, good for them, but it's probably placebo.

I absolutely despise this hoax that doctors and drugs are all trying to kill us, or that vaccines are causing autism. You're literally getting people killed, making people suffer, or getting yourself killed for tratable illnesses. Steve Jobs needs to be a lesson to everyone who thinks diet and meditation are going to save you from illnesses that kill, or terminal cancer.

yeah diet changes def don't fix everything, but it's not all a placebo effect either. For myself after going vegan the biggest thing I noticed and did not expect was dramatically reduced cramping around that time of the month. Also I know several people who feel less joint pain that used to be caused by a multitude of different things. Meat (esp red) and dairy are known to be inflammatory, and although there's not really any definite answer, a form of inflammation is linked to fibromyalgia

Exactly, I'm more or less applying the food "fix" to it's more common references, not necessarily firbromyalgia. Like cancer, or a terminal illness.

A simple fix would be like giving someone a pill or some treatment. Raw is a lifestyle so it is not a simple fix at all. It involves ongoing effort and a lot of learning. It is how backwards people think to call something a simple fix when it is the exact opposite way round. Not to say it is that hard or anything once you get used  to it although I do still have some cooked food a lot of the benefits can be acheived even without going fully raw. Not sure really you have to work it out for yourself. I certainly do notice I feel sleepy when I eat cooked food so try to reduce it and probably will go fully raw at some point.

Well Idk much about the topic but I have to say that dcotors and nurses are supposed to be aware of the disadvantages of drugs. That's why evaluating the patient is so important. Also, the way drugs are prepared is really important.

From personal experience, my grandfather has Guillain Barré syndrome. Before he was diagnosed, he was told to drink coconut water mixed with garlic to fix the symptoms. He drank it and helped him make the syndrome stop from destroying his system. Then, he was diagnosed, and he received the medication. He is now in rehabilitation. Of course there's a chance that it might come back, but at least we know how to deal with it. It was really difficult.

I think a balance between alternative medicine, diet and drugs would be ideal. That's my point of view.

If anyone has something to tell me I'm here to read what you write.

It is funny how these people will say about double blind placebo controlled studies and then just claim that Steve Jobs died because of diet and such like and would have lived if he had followed their advice when they have no evidence for it. He lived for 20 or 30 years after developing pancreatic cancer. The type of cancer Job’s had was of the hormone producing cells of the pancreas, which has a life expectancy of 3 to 6 months, on average. Two years before Steve succumbed to cancer he had a liver transplant operation.  Would Steve jobs be alive today had he not elected to have a risky liver transplant, followed by immune suppressant drugs? Looking at the wikipedia article it is the usual suspects taking advantage of  Steve Jobs death like David Gorski of science blogs/ science based medicine is quoted. http://www.ageofautism.com/2010/06/david-gorskis-financial-pharma-ties-what-he-didnt-tell-you.html

"SMG pretends to be a media outlet that reports science-related topics as pop culture, seeking to reach a wider, trendier audience. On its website, pretentiously obvious promotional statements are made, such as...  “Science is culture.” Apparently, to Adam Bly, culture is business, especially since the views expressed by the 69 bloggers who post on SMG’s"

Seed media i.e. GMO seed media http://www.ageofautism.com/2009/09/scienceblogs-seed-medias-aggressive-weed.html

In the 60 minutes clip in the above video the pharma goon is ridiculing Jobs for trying to treat it "macrobioticaly" i.e. the Madonna diet.  Not sure exactly what he ate. Looks like there was also claims made by Ashton Kutcher who did a documentary about Jobs. He is a restaurant entrepreneur behind a handful of restaurants, like Dolce Enoteca e Ristorante, Geisha House and Ketchup -- all part of the Dolce Restaurants and Entertainment Group. Restaurants can be pretty dodge especially if you can't afford to eat at the best ones but this guy claims he was hospitalized and his pancreas levels went "all out of whack" after following a fruitarian diet ala Jobs. It is one good thing with raw foods you can travel without bothering with too many restaurants you don't even need a kitchen really not that I advocate a fruit only diet, neither am I scared of sugar. The brain runs on glucose.
