Michelle 2,056
Gaga can sing about whatever the **** she wants. As far as I know, there's nothing in the song that directly references her. As far as I know, she wasn't suicidal, anorexic, a d--ggie, or swallowing peroxide shots. It's just an overall idea of the fall of fame. It references Princess Diana, but only in a way that she is like the martyr of fame, it's not truly about her. Just the idea of the decay of fame in general. :kisses:
Taylor Monster 38
OMG - - but I reeeeeally HATE this song!! The music is gorgeous and Gaga's voice is perfect - - but really, she's invoking THE Princess Di's name just to blather about her own morbid thoughts??? The song has NOTHING to do with Princess Diana at all - so, why give it that title? Is Gaga equating herself to Princess Di? She could easily have given it another title. Seems to me that she's really exploiting Di's name. BTW Sunday would have been Diana's 51st birthday. Will Gaga actually dedicate it to her? I personally hope she never sings it in public again. If she sings it in England, I think they'll throw rocks at her. Gaga can generate all the controversy she wants as usual - but to use Diana's name and memory in the process - is totally not cool IMO. Gaga never said it was about Princess Di. For all we know this isnt the song she played for VF It was us making that connection and it could be wrong. Danveries 0
I wish that I could go in my rich boyfriend's limo Right after he proposed with a 16 carat stone wrapped in rose gold With the Paparazzi all swarming around In my Louis Vuiton White buttoned down so it's true that she got engaged? Nemo 4,295
TBH I don't know why anyone still gives a **** about Diana Spencer or any of the British royalty, but I'd hardly call this song exploitative. Gaga is writing from a sympathetic perspective. But yes, I'm sure pressed monarchists will give her a hard time about it.
Khashoggi 1
so it's true that she got engaged? No, not as far as I'm aware. It's just a song. It doesn't mean she is engaged or had suicidal thoughts or whatever.

Mars 2,377
I like the piano and the darkness of it. Not very keen on this lyric though 'I'm hungry from an anorexic heart'. Edited June 28, 2012 by bornthiswaybaby
Rollercoaster 2
LOL some outrage at the Princess Diana referencing. If she can sing about Jonbennet Ramsay, Marilyn Monroe & James Dean, why the hell not Princess Diana? She died a billion years ago, get over it. It's not like she's going "I was a ***** and a cheat, made my ex husband give up his seat, or his throne as it were, now I'm running out of here" or something that's.. well.. a bit more blunt and honest about what Diana ACTUALLY did that isn't so widely publicized. Dangerous Man 9,245
Do you think this will included on her next album? "A little less conversation and a little more touch my body."

MelbHawker 6,583
TBH I don't know why anyone still gives a **** about Diana Spencer or any of the British royalty, Did you just shade Lady Diana? And express dislike for Prince William and Princess Kate? Out. Now.
alffy74 53
I'm not sure what you mean? I'm just gonna assume you mean SLY was a risk to put out, nobody thought it would go #1, and it did and blew everybody away. In that case, yes. Sometimes a bold risk pays off (though not always). Though, SLY had very simple, relateable lyrics; Princess Die (and assuming some of the album) does not, so that probably helped. You got me right! But I disagree that Princess Die does not have relatable lyrics. Everybody relates with the death of a pop icon, even when it happens at a time when the icon isn't at her peakl (i.e Amy, Whitney...) Katie14 4,828
I think this song is absolutely beautiful. It doesn't sound anything like a Gaga song which makes it interesting.
