You're talking about a platinum certified (that means 1,000,000 copies sold in the US), top 5 hit that is a Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance Grammy contender. And this is 2016/2017 we're talking about where it's harder to garner 1,000,000 pure sales than it was in 2011.

I know you mentioned 'commercial' in the title but I think we ought to measure the success of a song in overall terms.

True. Is very easy to go out and stream a song just out of curiosity even if you don't end up liking it (this usually happens when artists are very popular and hyped). Buying a song really shows that you liked the song enough to spend your money. But he seems to not understand at either

Are you sure that I'm the one that doesn't know what I'm talking about? MR also had a remix, a carpool karaoke, and some smaller performances. You're also forgetting that SOY was a lead so of course it had the radio show performances and morning tv show performances. Also alot of the performances were after it was already a big success

Oh you can call me the worst fan all you want but I've spent hundreds of dollars supporting this era through Vnyls, physical CDs, digital purchases of the album on iTunes, purchasing the singles, tour tickets and merch. Because I pointed out what I consider valid points on an issue y'all wanna ignore doesn't make me a bad fan. I didn't disrespect her on my post. I didn't call her a fad or any other word to slander her. I merely raised a question on her sales.
