Because @Versus knew those type of comments are coming and they always do.

No one said it isn't ok to criticize her for doing that. It always leads to generalizations and hate towards whole group of people.

In this case, both women share the same religion, but differ on interpretation and human decency (the attacker), so idk how comments like that help.

And when someone says they don't like seeing anti-immigrant comments, others tell them "you can't handle the truth", so it just becomes a giant mess.

:emma:

So these kind of threads shouldn't be posted?

I'm not anti-immigrant. I'm anti violent people calling their religion the "religion of peace".

God, I'm feeling like I'm on tumblr rn

The woman who was beaten up shares the same religion. You are insulting her and not helping this conversation.

You agreed with "welcome immigrants they said" comment, which cannot be more anti-immigrant. You called it "the truth". So you equated the attacker and victim here, they're both violent according to your logic.

You can stop with condescending Tumblr comments, if you don't have any arguments don't say "you can't handle the truth" to people. It's rude.

can we just ban all political posts from this site i can already see the islamophobia pouring into this thread

Pretending hate doesn't exist only lets it fester in the background until its too late, its better to let people argue it out

i dont think letting arguments explode on a lady gaga forum where 80% of the speakers are bigots who have no idea what they're talking about is going to inspire some great political renaissance any time soon

It doesn't ever lead to either person admitting they're wrong but it leaves the thoughts in their minds and leads them to ponder on it and consider their own beliefs and does work in letting people see that they're wrong if both sides manage to keep it civil. People like white supremacists and islamophobes aren't just acting like that because they feel like it, they act like that because they truly and honestly believe that their beliefs are correct and the only way to correct that is by presenting them with facts and letting them decide on it themselves even if they don't outwardly admit to you that they're reconsidering. People are people and we don't respond well to hostility.

If we just push people with these beliefs to the side and ignore them what is going to make them change their mind?

This is hardly islam related, there's a multitude of things you can critique about islam and any other religion but slut shaming is part of every culture whether you're religious or not

Gagadaily is too strict (on some issues) to have any deeper political discussion.

Are you actually saying people should be allowed to spread their hate against immigrants and/or poc and the rest of us should try to convince them why they are wrong?

We only really step in if arguments have gone into bickering and people start putting words into each other's mouthes and pulling out extreme comparisons because people subconsciously do that when talking politics and all it does is cause arguing :green:

I'm not saying people should be allowed to spread hate and you should report anyone you see doing that, but you can at least engage them and see why they think that way and challenge the reasons in a level headed way.

I don't want to go too much into talking about moderation because thats against the rules but you can PM me or make a support thread if you want.

Islam itself doesn't require a burqa or a headscarf. A few years ago, it even was forbidden to wear it in Turkey (til Erdogan arrived :awkney:) and it is now forbidden to sell them in Morocco.

I don't understand how you can still allow them in Germany. It's a law to not hide your face with masks or other things, but somehow they justify it with freedom of religion, even if it's not required by the religion itself...

Also: You can't make generalizations. In both directions. I know many muslims who perfectly adjusted to western culture, and I know many who didn't. And they who didn't are too much. There are families who can't even speak german after living in Germany for 10 years or more, who don't have a real job and treat their women like 100 years ago. These are not rare cases. It's quite often.

Then we have the terror wich is spreading all around europe. Almost all of them were muslims. That's because they take their holy book too literal, don't adapt to modern society and are radicalised by extremists. This terror has to do with islam. With the traditional islam, wich lots of modern people don't practice anymore. They are still muslim, but live it in a civilized way, wich everyone should tolerate.

I think we should ban headscarfs and burqas, ban child marriages (wich is somehow still possible), we should control who comes in our land and only take those in who really need our help. And we have to work at integrating those people and get them work, so that they can earn their own money and don't just get one child after another to live off of child benefits,

But everyone who wants this, is apparently a Nazi today... :awkney:

Venusfly got it right, not talking about issues in fear that people will be rude is silly  if anything, it offers you a chance to educate people

Spoiler

I dont know if this is allowed by GGD's rules but i feel like i need to create a thread on this so that people will read.

OP:

As a Muslim myself, my opinion on this, i think it's very inappropriate for her to call it sharia bikinis because to me it fells like she is making fun of the religion. Maybe she wasn't intended to, but to me it's offensive. But to beat her up and call her slut is totally unacceptable.

First of all, sorry for my English. I'm not a native English speaker and I'm very bad at explaining. I feel like as a Muslim, it's my responsibility to help people understand about my religion. But at the same time, I'm too scared to teach people about it because I don't want to spread false information about Islam because it will be a HUGE SIN and I don't want to go to hell for it . By the way, I'm not pious or religious at all. My knowledge of Islam is nothing (because I already forgot what I've learned since kindergarten cause of watching too much p*rn  :selena:).

So, from what I know, if a Muslim women wears bikini, it is considered a sin. It's a bad thing to commit a sin but it's not like it's the worst thing someone could have done. Everyone commits sin, whether they realize it or not. It's like how having sex outside of marriage is a sin in Christianity (sorry if I'm wrong) but like everyone does it, right. I believe that if a women doesn't cover herself up, it's a sin to them (all sins will be punished in hell). But God is The Most Forgiving. We don't have the right to judge people except God. So we cannot say that if someone doesn't cover herself up, they will for sure go to hell. As long as they repent before they die, they will be forgiven.

Important note, Islam also has different "madhab" (like different "versions" or "teachings", kinda like how Christians have the Catholic and the Protestant, but not really. i don't know . But it is actually the schools of Islamic law) and I'm following the Shafi'i madhab (probably the stricter one). Usually it is different based on region. Different places follow different madhab. So there might be a little bit differences in terms of the law here and there but probably not too much. Maybe for some madhab, there are circumstances where women are allowed to reveal certain parts of their body... but I'm not going to talk about that too much cause I don't have that much knowledge on it.

Sorry if my English is confusing. I feel like people need to be educated more about Islam and everyone has the right to ask questions and to be answered. I'm creating this thread hoping to have a healthy discussion about this topic.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
