The interesting thing is it's kinda anti-male too because it assumes they dominate the choices the women made, when it's mildly possible women could have made these choices for themselves.

My stance on the niqab (burqas and niqabs are different things) is this. If the woman is wearing it under her own will with no one forcing her, then there shouldn't be any problems (and many women do wear it voluntarily because they feel more...I don't know comfortable (?) I'm trying to find a better word so pardon me) There are also cases of men forcing women to wear Niqabs. That part is the part I'm completely against. There's nothing in the Quran that talks about niqabs (and the Hadeeth that many use is pretty vague and isn't explicit)

can we just ban all political posts from this site i can already see the islamophobia pouring into this thread

Why is it not ok to critisize Islam? I think it's fair to critisize anyone who does terrible things like this no matter who they are or what they believe in.

because you are criticising islam/sharia as a whole instead of radical islam which does not represent sharia , just like how the KKK does not represent christianity

Easy, tiger.

Not all free speech should be banned.

Just state your opinions in a mature and tolerant way and we should be fine.

How was that even criticizing?

Comments like "religion of peace they said" are typical islamophobic mocking statements and in this case they are mocking the religion of the victim too. How is that contribution to healthy discussion?

Because "welcome immigrants they said" is racist anti-immigrant sentiment popular among far right groups in Europe who are targeting innocent immigrants and their businesses because when one does something wrong, all should be blamed unlike their white counterparts. So how is that helping?

Nothing should ever be safe for criticizing. Without criticizing, things won't move forward.

I wasnt referring to those comments. I was wondering why he said that before there even was any critisizism. A woman beat up another woman because something she was wearing didnt align with her religious beliefs. Why is it not ok to critisize her for doing that?

Because @Versus knew those type of comments are coming and they always do.

No one said it isn't ok to criticize her for doing that. It always leads to generalizations and hate towards whole group of people.

In this case, both women share the same religion, but differ on interpretation and human decency (the attacker), so idk how comments like that help.

And when someone says they don't like seeing anti-immigrant comments, others tell them "you can't handle the truth", so it just becomes a giant mess.

Even when the victims are immigrants and Muslims, it's still somehow ok to spur anti-immigrant and racist nonsense. That is "the truth" to some of you. Validation of hate.

I'm not anti-immigrant. I'm anti violent people calling their religion the "religion of peace".

God, I'm feeling like I'm on tumblr rn

I'm what? SICKENING

Well Versus did say that it was not ok to critisize because "I am criticising islam/sharia as a whole instead of radical islam which does not represent sharia" which I find to be a little ridiculous. This woman used her religion as a basis for the attack. I am critisizing the same way I would critisize Christianity for being so anti-lgbt. Are we not supposed to do that either because not all christians are anti-lgbt and therefore we should just ignore the problem? You cant do that, you have to address the issue and critisize when it is needed. I'm sure there are many good muslims that would not do what this woman did just as I am sure that there are christians who are pro lgbt. I'm just confused why it always seems like people say its unfair or something to critisize it in a situation like this.
