On Sunday, and just as the country celebrated National Women's Day, Essibsi called for change to the country's current legislation and practices regarding women. I'm not inside this subject, but it seems like this is not a small step at all. Considering the women's role in muslim societies and how difficult it is to tolerate other religions in these countries, if this goes forward it will be one of the biggest steps of the last couple of years (considering the re-awakening of fundamentalism). Lead the way Tunisia And this is coming from someone from the UAE which is still fairly liberal compared to other Gulf countries. Arab dictators are probs shook tbh.
