Gaga had “little involvement” in the documentary - hasn’t seen much of it

GLAMOUR: You have a Netflix documentary coming out in September. Why did you decide to do that? And why now?

GAGA: I, in a lot of ways, have not a lot to do with the documentary. I had a lot to do with it because I allowed them access to me. I decided when I allowed them to film and what I’d be OK with them filming. But this was a piece that was created by my friends because they wanted people to see me the way they do and to know me the way they do. It’s really for no other reason other than the sake of art and a documentary of friends who love each other. You know me, it’s not about the money a lot of the time.

GLAMOUR: What can fans expect from the documentary?

GAGA: I actually don’t know what to tell you because I haven’t seen it the whole way through. I’ve only seen little pieces of it. I do not really want to give much of my two cents on it.

Technically, we already knew this. She said something similar on one of her Instagram posts about not really watching much of it because she didn't want to relive it or something. I think :oprah:

No offence but this high key sounds like something you’d say when you couldn’t give a flying **** about a project and you've been forced to release it for a few $$$ and to promote Netflix

it kinda kills the hype for me a bit, I guess? Idk :neyde: part of enjoying a Gaga project is seeing her talk so excitedly about it and hyping it to us all but with this she’s just like “oh it’s a documentary my friends made so y’all can see the real me. Idk what you should expect tho”

am I being extra :selena:

I mean you all saw Katys doc for the superbowl, it was a hectic time for her full of technicalities and moments that these ladies may not want to relive. However, im still super excited.

She is okay with having little involvement in doc about her life but is not okay with having little involvement in music video directed by one of the greatest music video directors (I'm talking about TEOG) :selena:

sorry, but I think it's a way for distancing herself from the parts of the documentary and her personality that the audience may not like

Her having little involvement means we get to see Gaga through somebodies eyes that arent her own, and that makes me even more excited honestly

I think the little involvement in the post production is so the documentary stays as authentic as possible not because she has a lack of interest in it

She didn't wanted to be objective about it

I like that though. She said before that she hasn't seen the documentary because she has a hard time being "objective with herself," which I think is extremely powerful.

It takes guts to release a documentary that, well, documents, some of your most personal moments in your life, and not see it. She could have easily—even though I find it unlikely—said, "Let's cut this out, I don't think people would like it," or "Maybe we should change this a bit," etc. etc.

I get what you're saying, but I think it speaks volumes for her to release a doc. and for her not to even see it.
