VMAs Suck because today's artists suck

As we all know, the MTV VMAs keep getting worse every year. Part of the blame goes to how MTV has been structuring the show and the quality hosts they choose (ex. Katy Perry). But most of the blame actually comes from today's artists. I say this because today's artists are unoriginal, lazy, and just bad to okay performers. There are some exceptions but the artists of the past at least tried to give you a good performance. Most of today's new acts just release quick catchy hits for the streaming and social media audience. But they lack personality, star power, and live performing abilities. So what happens when MTV books all this new acts with trendy hits? Well, you get a disaster of a show like the 2017 VMAs and a continuous ratings decline.

Um, no. There are a ton of good artists out there. They are just pandering to tweens and teens now, focusing more on social media, instead of focusing on the artists themselves.

A ton of good non mainstream artists. Good mainstream artists are rare. And most of them were not at the VMAs.

I agree. I mean the VMAs are a bleak shadow of what they once were:

Heavy hitters were noticeably absent.

Gaga, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Bruno, Justin Bieber, and Justin Timberlake all chose not to show up. Some were busy with tours like Gaga and Bruno. Other really just couldn't care less like Rihanna and Beyoncé.

Of course. But the VMA's are second only to the Grammys. The AMA's and Billboard awards will be gone before the VMA's.

it's becoming very obvious that the big names don't care for the VMAs anymore unless they can profit from it
