Lady Gaga extends her Super Bowl performance into wildly entertaining Xcel concert

Last fall, it looked like Lady Gaga was in trouble. She veered off into ’70s-style soft rock and modern country pop on her fifth album “Joanne,” which earned a warm reception from her fans, but didn’t make much of an impact beyond that.

Then she headlined the Super Bowl halftime show and turned in a stellar performance that nearly matched what Prince pulled off on the same stage a decade ago. Her gorgeous piano ballad “Million Reasons” shot to No. 4 on the charts and her “Joanne” tour sold out stops around the country.

Monday night, the woman born Stefani Germanotta packed St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center with about 17,000 fans, who filled the general-admission floor and even bought obstructed-view seats behind the massive stage. And she delivered what turned out to be a supersized version of her Super Bowl show — a big, loud, welcoming and entertaining spectacle.

Even more impressive was Gaga’s ability to transform the largely unheard tracks from “Joanne” into arena-ready anthems. She opened with two new ones, “Diamond Heart” and the raucous “A-Yo,” a sexy slice of Nashville pop that sounds like a long-lost Shania Twain smash (in the best possible way).

Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl concert served as a reset button for her career. She took full advantage of that and Monday night showed that she’s doubled down on her strengths as an artist and performer, from her voice to her knack for crafting big, and inclusive, entertainment. It’s going to be tough to top this tour, but she sure seems up for the challenge.

Largely unheard tracks from Joanne? Speak for yourself. We all know every line to every song.

Otherwise, it's a fine review. :bon::bon:

The Star Tribune one wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing either. It praised her, but was also shady. It's better than her previous tour reviews from them though so that's a plus.

Lady Gaga is a legend and you will deal with it

I love these sort of back-handed compliments.

These "no one was here for Joanne but the fans" remarks that immediately turn into "but now, we GET IT" remarks.

Like, we been knew? Y'all late. :laughga:

I am almost certain that the super bowl made JWT the success that it is. After the superbowl everyone wanted and needed to see a gaga concert live, and JWT was that.

Yes, every artist who has performed at SB always owns a huge push of the exposure, let alone her jaw-dropping performance. She worked hard ,so she deserved that ****. With the over the top production,JWT itself is worth succeeding,too. I think you dont have to wonder yourself such obvious things.

The reason I devoted a long reply to you is because I saw you constantly comment some random "flop"-related comments which are not supposed to be a funny joke but negative one. :bon:
