Marry The Night - Disappointment. The instrumental in Gagavision sounded so epic, but overall I found it boring. It grew on me, eventually.

Born This Way - More like Burn My Ears This Way. Hated it from first listen, still hate it.

Government Hooker - That's... nice... love the HOOOOKAAAAH parts, the censors in the end. I expected it to be a bit faster like the Mugler remix but overall I like it.

Judas - This ****ing track slayed my entire existence and I got a headache the next day from blasting it on max volume with headphones, seriously. It had so much energy. Now it's kind of "meh". I guess I overplayed it and my brain just couldn't take so much awesomeness at once.

Americano - She sounds like a lunatic here. ****ing loved it. This was the first track I listened to when the album leaked because it seemed to be getting mixed reactions, so I was curious about it.

Hair - Major disappointment. The acoustic performances are much better. It should have been a piano track.

Scheiße - Loved the remix when it came out. I swear a song never made me feel so ****ing alive on the first listen. I was scared that the original wouldn't sound as fresh as the remix, but GaGa did not disappoint me with this one. One hell of a dance track, my favorite in the album and one of my favorite GaGa songs ever.

Bloody Mary - My expectations for this one were low. I loved it immediately. Not creepy at all like some people say, but I like the atmosphere and love the lyrics.

Black Jesus † Amen Fashion - First listens: "wow it's kind of ****". After some time: "hey this is catchy after all". The only bonus track I like.

Bad Kids - Before listening to the album I had already read some reviews from fans and everyone seemed really disappointed with this one. I have to confess I actually liked it. And I still do. Can't wait for the live version.

Fashion of His Love - Terrible production in my opinion. Just, boring.

Highway Unicorn (Road to Love) - Okay, at first I didn't quite "get" this song. I wasn't sure if I disliked it because it sounds so loud and chaotic, or if I loved it. I love it now, it's badass.

Heavy Metal Lover - Surprised at first because I expected something rock-ish. Obsessed after a few listens. It's my favorite after Scheiße and my most played GaGa song of all time.

Electric Chapel - Strange that she decided to use such a common guitar riff. But I liked it.

The Queen - Oh what's this, a Christmas song? It sure sounds like one in the beginning. Wait, even Christmas Tree is better than this. skipskipskipskip

You & I - It's nice. I liked the more toned down version from TMB. The guitars ruin it.

The Edge Of Glory - Didn't really love it at first, and I felt that the sax was so out of place. It's cool now, though.

1. Marry the Night

Omg, the instrumental! And when the chorus hit, I actually got goosebumps, it had never happened before. "I'm gonna marry, the night!" The power in her voice is incredible. Then when the breakdown hit, my jaw dropped. It was instantly a favourite

2. Born This Way

As soon as I heard the "It doesn't matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M" on the radio premiere, I was in love. Such a good and catchy song!

3. Government Hooker

I was so excited for Government Hooker. It was a little too slow at first, but then I came to love it. The little parts of the song (Iku Iku) make it amazing.

4. Judas

The pre-chorus is so good. I love it so much. I don't like the chorus though, it spoils the song for me. It's too happy and light, when the rest of the song is dark and aggressive.

5. Americano

Absolutely love the instrumental. It's so fresh. I didn't know how I felt about the song as a whole though, and I still don't think I do.

6. Hair

The song is genius. The chorus, when the beat drops. The production is good! It's so long though, and starts dragging on towards the end .

7. Schiesse

Such a fierce, fast song. I really liked it. I got bored of it very fast, and didn't understand why others think it's so amazing. It's good, but pretty average in comparison to a lot of the album.

8. Bloody Mary

This was my favourite GGV snippet. I got goosebumps when her voice turns scary in the verses. I absolutely love it. Only complaint - the chorus lacks a little in comparison to the verses..

9. Black Jesus | Amen Fashion

I like the chorus, it's average though.

10. Bad Kids

Epic intro! The whole song just works. I love the bridge too, it's beautiful.

11. Fashion of His Love

Oh, Then You'd Love Me! It's a cute song.

12. Highway Unicorn (Road to Love)

One of the most experimental songs on the album. I love it so ****ing much. The entire thing. Especially the outro, I was obsessed with it for so long. So underrated. It would be such a good concert intro.

13. Heavy Metal Lover

WTF Gaga, hjsdhgifgh. This is so ****ing good. I was in such shock that it sounded so different, and how incredible it was. It was my favorite on the album.

14. Electric Chapel

GGV! Love the verses. Bit disappointed with the chorus though. Had more potential. A little let down with the lyrics aswell.

15. The Queen

Favorite bonus track! It's so lovely. Such good lyrics.

16. Yoü and I

It's pretty good. It's no Speechless though.

17. The Edge of Glory

I really liked it when it premiered. Love the industrial influence in the instrumental. And the sax is so good. A good song!

Just A Holy Fool

Marry The Night: The instrumental preview in Gagavision slayed me. I knew I'd love this song. I was a bit disappointed that the vocals started right away and there wasn't a musical intro. The instrumental is just too epic not to have experienced it a little. Overall though my first listen of the full song slayed me. Especially the bridge :legend: :legend: :legend:

Born This Way: First reaction was complete confusion actually. It wasn't what I expected, and after the first listen I was disappointed. I blame that on the hype. I listened to it on loop the whole walk to class that morning and I remember during class I couldn't wait to listen to it again.

Government Hooker: My expectation was that it would sound different than the preview used at Mugler and it didn't. Sure we got the full song, but again I expected more. However, its grown on me and is definitely among my faves.

Judas: I didn't hate it upon first listen, but it took me a while to digest it. The beat was insane and it was as epic as I had hyped it up to be in my head. So much going on in this song. I sort of had to pick away at it layers. Vocals, lyrics, melody all separately. Once I got a handle on all layers individually I finally realized that this became one of my favourite Gaga songs ever. It pains me it did so poorly on the charts. I think it will live on as kind of a cult classic for her.

Americano: I actually didn't listen to it all the way through the first time.... it emerged as the most skippable song for me after listening to the whole album in its entirety. However, its grown on me and while not among my faves, its definitely a good track.

Hair: Pure 80's cheese, and I loved that. Its a consistent song for me. I recently a month or so ago got hooked with this song. I guess I was feeling rather sorry for myself and insecure and the lyrics just pierced me. I prefer this song as an inspirational anthem to Born This Way (especially the acoustic version)

Scheisse: Upon hearing the intro.... OMG.... I was :dead: I found the chorus to be fairly generic though so I guess had a disjointed opinion on it. However, grown to love it and its awesomeness.

Bloody Mary: One of the few tracks on this album upon first listen that I knew would be one of my favourite songs.... and I was right. I was slayed by the lyrics mainly, and I absolutely love the production on this track. Its amazing. This is the song I am most looking forward to live on the tour (hopefully she will perform it)

Black Jesus + Amen Fashion: I really loved it initially, but now not so much. Don't skip it, but don't seek it out either :nails:

Bad Kids: I thought it was a fun track. Now realize its probably the worst on the record.

Fashion of His Love: I thought it was alright upon first listen, its my least played though off the album. Its nothing special. Pure bonus track material.

Highway Unicorn (Road 2 Love): Found the intro awkward as ****, but by the end of my first listen I loved it. When the organ begins to play towards the end :dead:

Heavy Metal Lover: Thought it to be one of the best tracks on the album, and probably the most out there song she has recorded..... it remains one of my faves. Praying she never makes it a single though.....

Electric Chapel: I thought listening to the first time it was Madonna singing. Her voice was very Madonnaesqe. I loved it initially, but it just average for me now.

The Queen: I didn't really like it the first time and I still don't see the fuss about it. Its got some interesting lyrics, but meh. I really am not fond of any of the bonus tracks really :nails:

You and I: I remember thinking upon first listen how Mutt Lange butchered this beautiful mid-tempo rock ballad. I LOVE the added bridge though we never had before. The song in its basic form still slays me. The production I still find completely distracting though. It sounds like a Shania Twain knockoff. Not sure why she gave this track to him.

The Edge of Glory: Slayed my life upon first listen. So beautiful. Piano version makes me teary.

Marry The Night

When it started I was like "church bells?" than the beat drop I was like wow this is amazing, took some time to grow on me, like months. Now is one of my favorites #10 on my iPod

Born This Way

I remember getting up early that morning, ran to the bathroom and took a shower and I remember singing the only lyric I knew and that was "I'm beautiful in my way cuz god makes no mistakes I'm on the right track baby I was born this way" Than I ran downstairs when into ladygaga.com and heard it, it was life changing different amazing is #1 on my iPod

Government Hooker

When I heard the mugler version I fell in love, I remember "I'll drink my tears tonight" than the beat was awesome, at first I was like is to slow but than I was like dancing my ass off every night to that song #12 on my iPod. The lyrics were funny at first I was like really gaga "puts your hands on me John F. Kennedy

Judas

I remember being in the library waiting for gaga to release it, when the bell ran I was like no ****ing way. I got into the computer and went into soundcloud and heard it, I was like wow this song is just amazing the beat different but it seem very similar to Bad Romance, but I love Bad Romance it was #1 for like a year than Born This Way came out and move it down to #2

Americano

That was one of the tracks I was most excited about, I was like gaga signing in all Spanish is a must watch but it never came out, when I heard it, it was like nothing I have ever heard that beat it was like future techno with a Mexican vive in it. Proud to call myself a Hispanic fighting for the immigrants

Hair

When I first heard it I was like to noisy, but than it grew on me I love it one of my favorite. When I feel sad I hear this song a jump up and down signing I'm as free as my ****ing hair.

Scheiße

This song is just a masterpiece, Redone this an amazing job with this songs, at first I was like what the hell is she saying at the beginning of the song, but than I started following it up and started signing to it, it was like out of this world this beat was just amazing the lyrics were ok.

Bloody Mary

When I read the reviews for this song I was like it sound like a funeral what I couldn't believe it. I was really scare to hear this song, than I heard the instrumentals for Gagavision and I was like this doesn't sound like no ****ing funeral, than I heard "i'll dance with my hands, hands, hands, above my head, head, head like Jesus said" and I was like wow to religious, is one of my fav but at the same time not is weird.

Black Jesus + Amen Fashion

I didn't like it until the short video she did with the remix than I like it is one of least favorite on the whole album

Bad Kid

At first I was like, is to heavy metal and to loud, than I was like wow is a good song not one of my fav

Fashion Of His Love

I kinda like it, its very emotional because you can see how much she love Mcqueen

Highway Unicorn (Road To Love)

I was like what the heck is this song, It was the only song I didn't knew how it would sound. I remember gaga making a lot of references to Unicorns so I knew that she would make a song about it, I imagined it to be like "Fantasy" because Unicorns aren't real, so it was a shock to me. Love the song it has a special place

Heavy Metal Lover

I was like why did she auto-tune her voice but than I realize that the beat would had over power her voice, than I was like why would she have a title and not used it on the lyrics I thought she meant "Leather Jacket" until I read the lyrics lol. Weird beat which makes you have an ear-orgasm

Electric Chapel

It sound a lot like Judas, I like the "Don't be a Holy Fool" because on Judas she says "I'm such a Holy Fool" very similar love the beat love the guitar

The Queen

A very slow song, but I love the guitar and the heaven door part, so emotional love it so much, it sounded a lot like Hair but slower and more intense the lyrics were just amazing blew my head away

You and I

I remember hearing the piano version and I was like dam this song sucks I don't like it on the piano it makes it sounds so boring, but than I heard it on the album the beat the way she uses her amazing voice I was impress it grew so much it went to #2 on my iPod. y

The Edge Of Glory

The song it self amazed me with the heartbeat in the beginning I was just amazed, I cry because I lost my dad at a very young age and hearing those heartbeats remind me of how his life was lost, than I hear the lyrics and it remind me of my dad so much, I know he live a full life, I might not have him next to me but I know he is looking over from heaven. This song has a very close part to my heart.

Overall the whole album is good, it was its ups and downs. I want to go on the Road to Love :excited2:

Marry The Night: I thought the song was boring aside from the chorus and breakdown.

Born This Way: I remember staying up late waiting for it to premiere and being so anxious and excited to hear it, and when they finally played it I remember being so disappointed over it. I tried to force myself to like it. The video made me appreciate it a little more but now I don't play it, ever.

Government Hooker: I thought it was AMAZING. It remains one of my favorite tracks from Born This Way.

Judas: I thought it was weird, but in a good way. I liked it.

Americano: "Huh?"

Hair: I thought it was an abomination and still do.

Scheisse: Amazing, it was hands down my favorite track on first listen and it's still one of my faves.

Bloody Mary: It was a little bit too dreary for my taste but I loved the beat and lyrics.

Black Jesus + Amen Fashion: Boring. I still haven't listened to it in full.

Bad Kids: I thought it was awful, mainly because of the intro but now I like it.

Fashion of His Love: I liked it.

Highway Unicorn (Road 2 Love): Awful and boring.

Heavy Metal Lover: I thought it was interesting and I'd been waiting for this song since I first heard the instrumental from one of the Gagavision episodes. It didn't disappoint and it's still one of my favorite tracks.

Electric Chapel: Decent.

The Queen: Meh.

You and I: I thought the live version was better and didn't really didn't learn to appreciate it until the video came out. Now I love it.

The Edge of Glory: Wasn't really into it on first listen.

Marry The Night: Good as an opener but I thought there's too much repetition of the word "Marry"

Born This Way: Truly love the song, but for the first listen I only thought  Really Gaga, really?

Government Hooker: Hmmm, okay but now great

Judas: Verses :legend: Chorus

Americano: Thought it would be stunning after first listen, now: :crazy2:

Hair: Song begins: No, thanks. Part after first chorus :rockstar:

Scheiße: Don't like the nonsense part because I thought it would be REAL German. Disappointed.

Bloody Mary: Okay but did not love it after one try

Black Jesus / Amen Fashion: OMG that's my tune :legend:

Bad Kids: Is that you Gaga? Though, amazing! :legend:

Fashion of His Love: wtf is this? Now I really like it

Highway Unicorn: First moment of the album that made me scream. Best song ever :legend:

Heavy Metal Lover: Okay, autotune. Chorus: :worship2: :worship2: New Best Song ever :legend:

Electric Chapel: Naah... :pukey:

The Queen: Really? Naaah 2.0

You And I: Did the studio version not expect to be that good :rockstar:

The Edge of Glory: Just :legend: and a perfect Outro.

So half of the tracks appealed to me, half of it not.

This ended in endless rotation of HML and HU for the rest of the day.

  • 3 weeks later...

I just listened to HML's acapella.

I swear to GOD it's ****ing scary. I thought Paparazzi's was scary but HML takes the cake. Paparazzi had those zombie backing vocals, but HML has these weird... whispers... during the verses. What in the actual ****.

3 points in and ready for more

I liked the whole BTW era, fashion and music,... But there was ONE thing that wasn't as good as the previous era's: the Music Video's... (except Judas and a bit Marry The Night)

And I know why they weren't as good as Paparazzi/Bad Romance/Telephone!

Those video's didn't have an as great storyline and they missed the very important EPIC moment in the video, for example:

- Gaga burns the man in the Bad Romance Video

- Gaga and Bey poisoned the café and start dancing in amazing and iconic clothes in Telephone

- Gaga kills her boyfriend in the Paparazzu Video

These video's wouldn't be as good without these scenes...

Yoü And I for example had great fashion, but there was no storyline in the video...

What do you think?

Discuss!!!

I know what you mean. Not every song needs a storyline and huge epic tale, but the videos have been a let-down this era (I love Judas and You and I as videos, but they still lacked some sort of story or reason).

I think the Born This Way Video was flawless.

I think the Judas Video was fantastic and very true to traditional Pop. However with a longer video the concept and narrative could've been translated to viewers a little better.

Edge Of Glory was obviously rushed.

You and I Video was average in my opinion. The one song that needed a simplistic video she went all out for and I don't think the video suited the song. I loved some of her looks though.

Marry The Night Video is my favourite of hers. Its perfect. But the ending dance sequence should've been shown more because its her greatest!

RoadToLove

Gives birth to millions of children & a gun.

Gets stoned to death by Jesus

Has an epic moment with a legend, who is actually on the edge of glory/death

Gets Married

Turns her life around, becomes a star.

Now they seem like pretty epic moments honey bunches.
