Hillary Clinton 20 0
Then you listen to ****ty artists. Most artists don't go into their personal lives. I have music of all kinds. In Jazz for instance there are rarely any vocals and if you think for one second that a Jazz artist is going to let you into their personal lives you're just being delusional. Not that Gaga wanted you to think of her as a hero or goddess in the first place, but this is why she kept her personal life private... because it takes away from the fantasy and the image of the Popstar. Gaga still put humor and fantasy in her video, along with the truth. You want Gaga to lie her career away forever? I'm not here for that, tbh. I like morbidity and darkness. Like Gaga, I am fascinated with it. I think this is why I like her so much. Aside from Gaga, I listen to artists who are raw and have an interesting past. People who have the perfect life or pretend to have a perfect life are boring. Don't get me wrong. I know where she's headed and I want to go there to. I'm just having a hard time digesting it that's all. I'm glad she came out with the video because now there's no going back. She took away the ability from her fans to envision her as a fantasy and now it becomes more about her music than her antics. It's a good thing in the long run. Nina Simone has produced some of the most gut wrenching jazz songs on Earth about her being a manic depressant and bi-polar. Billie Holiday inspired hundreds to kill themselves with her jazz songs. You are the first person I have ever heard who claims art is better when its less personal.

It's a good thing in the long run. Well with her music comes fashion and performance art. Her "antics" aren't going anywhere. I wouldn't necessarily say that she's hiding behind her antics, but they are all apart of the fantasy and living a life in her head, making it a reality. But coming out with this video it gives people a different look into her as a person and performer. Hopefully now people will understand her a little more. I noticed that Gaga gets flustered when people don't "get" it, but she has to understand that no one will if they don't understand her past. We are who we are based on experience. Our past is very important, regardless how great or horrific it was.

You are the first person I have ever heard who claims art is better when its less personal. I'm not a big fan of Jazz with vocals and even so Jazz is mostly done without vocals. You think Sonny Rollins is going to tell you about his love life? I never claimed that art is better when it's less personal. Read my posts instead of skimming them. Not true. Hillary Clinton 20 0
point is...many artists have done that and in a much more extreme manner than Gaga. if anything I'd say her take is pretty mild. Many do but most don't and artists that have the type of platform Lady Gaga has usually don't. I listen to a buttload of music so I've heard my fair share of depressing and personal songs. Many of those artists are from the past though.

This is ONE music video which is extremely important to Gaga. Yes, she revealed a lot but it was time. This is her most personal and significant album and song to date. Every artist has at least one of those if not more in their body of work. In the Vanity Fair interview/story it seemed as though this was therapeutic for Gaga and a catharsis not only for Gaga but her fans. She wanted to tell this story. Leaf 2,429
And like I said above I think it's a good thing in the long run. Is the video bad in the short run? I really can't sympathize or empathize with anyone who can't "digest" this video.
Shadow 6,425
I do not understand how she loses that "deity" nature even when she shows her human side. If anything, this added to her larger than life mystery. She can be this angel of light and this messenger of darkness at the same time. I think the most interesting characters in any plot are those who expose their flaws and weaknesses. 🖤“It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled” ― Mark Twain

I can't sympathize with people who can't listen to Charles Mingus for 10 straight hours. Edit: I never said I couldn't digest the video. I said I'm having a hard time digesting it. It's the content of the video that is taking time for me to get used to. Even though I've seen more complex, rawer videos they've never been from an artist as personal to me as Lady Gaga.
