Bebe 17,289
Not everyone who voted Trump is a Nazi, of course, but at the very least they turned a blind eye to the white nationalists and neo-nazi's who supported his rhetoric. They chose to side with a man courting extreme right-wing support because... What? They are a fiscal conservative? Everyone who voted for Trump new how he talked about immigrants, muslims, POC, women. They knew he picked a homophobic and transphobic VP in Mike Pence who opposed nondiscrimination laws and open military service while supporting anti-gay conversion “therapy.” They heard David Duke excitedly endorse Trump, they read the stories of Trump's broad support among neo-Nazis and white nationalists and they saw Trump retweet racist propaganda from accounts like '@WhiteGenocideTM' and they consistently watched him refuse to denounce those groups. They knew about the racist and dangerous conspiracy he pushed alleging Obama wasn't born in the US, they saw him align himself with people like Steve Bannon, ex-CEO of Breitbart, and Jeff Sessions, who once said he thought the Klan was “O.K. until I learned they smoked pot". Not everyone who voted Trump was a white nationalist or neo-nazi, but they readily aligned themselves with the goals of white nationalists and neo-nazis. They voted for a man knowing that the cost would be having a president who has emboldened a racist, 'alt-right' and a white house full of racists. So congrats to all the Trump supporters who are not neo-nazis, although that's an extremely low bar, but you all voted alongside neo-nazis and white supremacists... Maybe it's time to do some reflecting.

I dont really think that you saying that a few nazis voting conservative alongside regular conservatives therefore the regular people need to change is really fair. I am not a trump supporter at all nor am I defending the many terrible things he has done. Trump is a piece of **** and for the most part I am left leaning so I dont want anyone to get the wrong impression. But I dont really think that its too much of a stretch to say that these same people, the nazis, have been voting republican since the 60's. The real issue here is that many people had no choice other than to vote for him because it was either that or to vote democrat which would probably be voting against their funamental beliefs whether that be fiscal or not. More than likely the people with fundamental conservative beliefs still would have just been voting republican like they have their entire lives no matter who the candidate would have been because there are only 2 parties. Of course the Nazis are going to vote republican because they sure as hell aren't going to vote democrat however that does not equate the regular conservatives to being nazis. The only reason I am defending them is because I'm just tired of the lables that both sides are using on each other without actually thinking things through. It's rather annoying to hear people dismiss the other side by saying "Oh anyone who votes Republican is a literal sexist nazi racist." and the other side saying "Oh anyone who votes democrat is a snowflake SJW libtard nutjob" I just think that dehumanizing people like this is disgusting an should not be encouraged. The actions of a small minority do not reflect the opinions of the entire group. Sorry for the rant. Hands up to the sky, I'm about to fly!
REALITY 80,163
How can someone be so f*cking ignorant and stupid? First of all, he does realize that America fought against Nazi Germany, right? Like, America helped fight against Nazi Germany. Sh*t doesn't really get any clearer than that. It makes absolutely no sense for someone in the United States of America to be holding such a symbol of hatred. Secondly, if has has the balls to hang that fall on his house and have a Trump sticker on his truck, then he needs to f*cking have the balls when someone confronts him about it. It's so f*cking annoying when people are like, "What's it to you?" "What's your problem?" "How about you just let me be?" Like, you know that having a Nazi flag in the front of your house will cause controversy. I don't give a f*ck you who are, but you can't be that stupid. You know someone will confront you about it, so the f*cking "What's it to you," talk is just that, talk, and nothing else. 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔪𝔬𝔫𝔰𝔱𝔢𝔯 𝔱𝔬𝔯𝔢 𝔞𝔴𝔞𝔶 𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔪𝔞𝔰𝔨 𝔞𝔫𝔡...𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔣𝔞𝔠𝔢 𝔴𝔞𝔰 𝔪𝔦𝔫𝔢. I think it is fair - I can't support an anti-choice, anti-women candidate because I like their policy on the economy but then be outraged when the candidate I voted for acts in a way that is anti-women. I can't suddenly act like this crosses a line. These people made a decision - either the clear racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and anti semitism represented by either Trump, or the people in his campaign/administration was a disqualifier or it was something that could be ignored. They chose to ignore the racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and anti-semitism and the result is Charlottesville. The result is an increase in attacks on muslim people. The result is an increase in overall hate crimes. The result is people openly flaunting nazi flags. People knew Trump was emboldening the racist, extreme right. Whether they agreed with that or not, they where willing to ignore that for their own perceived gain. Trump isn't George Bush. I'm sure the racist conservatives voted for him - but he was also a candidate that, despite all his flaws, clearly stood up against explicit racism and islamophobia. Trump is a president that says things and does things that are explicitly racist, finds it difficult to disavow white nationalists who support him, brings in openly bigoted people into his administration and finds it difficult to condemn the actions of violent white nationalists. The people who voted Trump knew this. Period.

The rights movements, and civil liberties, a woman's right to choose, a worker's right to be safe in their work environment, they have always voted with these views, and honestly? This little thing they call White Supremacists and Nazis, is just one more thing they are fine to vote with if it means the president won't be a Democrat. Just because they didn't vote for these things specifically when they voted for Trump, doesn't absolve them of the weight of their actions. They brought this on us, they let this hate come into the light and become a part of our culture in our everyday lives now. They aren't the Nazis, but their silence is just as bad. I think it all stems back to the fact that we only have 2 parties. There are so many issues that both sides have to deal with and I believe that the majority of Americans are not racist bigots and are good people. If they want small government spending, traditional christian values, gun control laws, etc then voting democrat would be the opposite of these fundamental beliefs that they might hold. I dont think its reasonable to expect them to vote against this just because of a shitty republican candidate in the same way that I dont think it would be reasonable for democrats to all vote republican if they had a shitty candidate. There is a lot more to the government than just the president. If they hold these views than them voting in a democrat would lead to a democrat majority in the supreme court for example or the president vetoing republican bills. Even most conservatives hate trump and thats why he as such a low approval rating. Hands up to the sky, I'm about to fly!
JustaMonster 4,909
Anyways Ive gotta go guys. I'm not trying to defend the actions of these people that do terrible things I guess I just come from a more moderate viewpoint that many people here on GGD. I just dont like to label all conservatives as nazis or terrible people because I know plenty of them and they are very nice people and I just wish people wouldn't be so quick to judge or dismiss other peopls opinions. Even most conservatives hate trump and thats why he as such a low approval rating. Of course they had a choice... He was the most popular candidate by far in the primaries and when he won the primary he was at the very least up against Hillary Clinton... "If they want small government spending, traditional christian values, gun control laws, etc then voting democrat would be the opposite of these fundamental beliefs that they might hold." Yeah great, and apparently strongly opposing racism, sexism, islamophobia, anti-semitism, homophobia and transphobia isn't one of those 'fundamental beliefs' that they hold. They felt that softer gun control laws and small government spending (except for great, big, beautiful border walls) was worth the tradeoff of having an openly racist, sexist, islamophobic president who employed anti-semitic, homophobic, transphobic staff, was enthusiastically endorsed by Klan members who claimed Trump was saying the same things they had been saying for decades and who openly encouraged violence at his rallies against those who opposed him. I think it should be reasonable to expect people to vote against racism, sexism, islamophobia, anti-semitism, homophobia and transphobia. "If they hold these views than them voting in a democrat would lead to a democrat majority in the supreme court for example or the president vetoing republican bills" Again though, this seems to be an okay trade off to those people. Okay, well the president and members of his campaign are openly racist, he has the enthusiastic support of neo-nazis and white supremacists... His administration is going to be bad for people of colour, women, LGBT people, muslim people, jewish people and is emboldening a violent alt-right... But hey! At least we will score a nice supreme court judge! You know Trump still has a 72% approval rating with Republicans right?
