Gaga: "I know I'm a white woman. I'm not confused"

I haven’t posted on here in AGES because of some of the bats*** crazy material I had seen, but I think this thread drew my attention the most.

For starters, as an openly gay, Hispanic male I have witnessed firsthand the level of disrespect and prejudice against Hispanics period. I am Puerto Rican; yes I’m a US Citizen by default since PR is a US Territory. That doesn’t make things any better. I have been insulted for having an olive complexion. I have been insulted for speaking Spanish; my mother was once told we’re in America and she needed to speak English. I know the struggle of being a minority, working in an industry that is still predominantly white and male. Do I dislike that? I have concerns because I’m an advocate for diversity in the workplace. Does that mean I hate all white people? No. My boyfriend is white; German/Irish mix, together 3.5 years. Do we understand the roots of the US were grounded in White Supremacy? Yes. Does that mean that today in 2017 we think all white people believe they are superior? Absolutely not. And for the record, I have been called every anti-gay slur in the book—no need to bring that up.

Lady Gaga has done more for humanity than most people will in their entire lives. I’m 30 years old and never thought that I’d be witnessing a degree of behavior that was prominent in the 1960’s. Let me be clear; when you feel entitled and accustomed to privilege of any degree then you will eventually believe that equality is discrimination. People attacking her, is not helping the situation. It’s not making things any better and if anything you look like a giant a*****e. She understands that she is privileged for being a white woman. Just because they acknowledge that, doesn’t mean they are actually okay with. I have plenty of friends of all backgrounds that agree; the enemy is not a stupid Social Media hashtag. The enemy is not a tweet blown out of its context and misinterpretation. The enemy is for sure not Lady Gaga. The real enemies, are the psychos that held a rally in VA; the enemies are the maniacs that rammed a vehicle into peaceful protestors and killing them just because they spoke out against hate.

Just think about that for a moment, because we only have each other and this insanity we are all facing as a nation right now is going to test us. Love wins, it always has and always will; no one should be bashing anyone. It’s okay to disagree; it’s not okay to enforce an opinion simply because people want their voices heard. That’s not how you go about it. Resist. Fight the hatred. Love each other, and most importantly leave Gaga alone. She’s trying to learn more and find ways to help the cause. Not hurt it.

sorry if you don't want to talk about this anymore but I wanna just say a lil more.

So I don't feel like criticizing this hashtag is bad. People are emotional about things and they tweet with anger. But when it comes down to it, they're just adding more context to the issue that I think is valuable. Again, just because Gaga's tweets were good doesn't mean they couldn't have been better. If people are being pushed away that's their issue. People need to learn to listen. Especially to people of color. Even when it makes them uncomfortable.

That's fair! I do understand where you are coming from, and your opinion is coming from a positive place, so respect :golfclap:

I genuinely hope she responds to this whole situation with an open letter or something. The people upset clearly aren't going to her concerts, they don't know her that well, etc. The great thing about Gaga is that she isn't tone deaf about topics and is always willing to learn and rectify her behavior if someone sees it as reasonably offensive or inappropriate (see Aura/Burqa as just one of these examples).

I genuinely believe her intention with that hashtag was the criticize contemporary America where This is Not Us represents what modern society should or shouldn't be. Had she been a little clearer, things would've gone a lot smoother but what's been done has been done. She, and we as a society, can only move forward and learn from this.

Wow at some of the responses.

But gaga wasn't the only one getting backlash. Kevin hart, Obama, and The Weeknd (kind of), were getting the same treatment. The only reason gaga was the most was because of her hashtag which was just dumb of her.

Yesterday I tweeted against Virginia AND SJWS BLEW UP IN MY FACE, literally one of their tweets quoting me got 1,000 favorites. They wouldn't stop harassing me, and this is from me SUPPORTING THEM. Never again, they can deal with it on their own.

All you can do is what you know. If someone else misconstrues your words that are coming from a place of love, it's their ignorance that is showing. It's never wrong to use your voice to show sympathy and compassion, regardless of how some people might overreact.

SJWs, feminists, BLMs, all bullshit. If you support SJW, you get called fake and trying to escape responsibilities. If you support feminism, you're just a fake man that tries to get on women's good sides. If you support BLM you can't even support it if you ain't black cause you're a "white ass bitch" or "hidden cracker".

The only privileged people are the people that started these groups and are part of them, lol. The privilege of having their stupidity acknowledged by a ton of other people, that is.

BLM and Feminism isn't about killing all white men/men. Who told you that? Wow.
