Refugee rescue ship sails to aid of anti-migrant activists stranded in Med

An NGO vessel that has saved the lives of hundreds of migrants in the Mediterranean is sailing to the rescue of a group of far-right anti-immigration activists whose ship is in difficulties off the coast of Libya.

The German NGO Sea Eye said one of its search and rescue boats was on its way to the C-Star, manned by members of the extremist Generation Identity group, which sent a distress signal after an engine failure left it unable to manoeuvre.

Michael Busch Heuer, the founder of the Regensburg-based aid organisation, which operates two rescue vessels active in the Mediterranean since early 2016, said it was the duty of anyone at sea “to help those in distress, irrespective of their origin, colour, religion or beliefs”.

The problem is they are there to prevent other human beings from reaching safety, they want them to drown.

So I know this was morally right thing to do, I just don't think any of them will change their racist ways after this.

if we react with hate, there is no chance to change their mind. but react in a human way (cuz they might be aholes but they are still human), we might change the mind of one person. it will take a long time, but if we embrace them, we at least have a chance. but i get that it's hard and it goes sometimes against our instinct. but we have to look at the bigger picture here. I have faith that everyone has a bit of humanity in them, and that maybe one day they will see that what they are doing is wrong

How can you be an anti-migrant ACTIVIST? Like we have 24 hours a day, our lives are uncertain you can die any moment and some people choose to spend that precious time to be anti-humans who are from another territory.

I think some of you are misreading. Refugees in a ship didn't save these racists. 

It's a ship that rescues refugees that saved them.
