Performing old(er) hits on tour (your opinion)

Hi everyone

How do you feel about Gaga performing older hits when touring her latest album?

What are the songs she will ALWAYS perform? 

(I think Poker Face, Bad Romance and Paparazzi are the only ones she can't skip)

I ask this because lots of people seem to talk about this when discussing the JWT setlist. 

Personally, I like it better when hits are mixed with new songs (like she does now with Poker Face, Paparazzi, Applause etc.) than when she fills a segment of the show with hits. She does that now with Just Dance, Lovegame and Telephone and although those are great songs, I don't know how I feel about them being performed in isolation of the rest of the show like that, it's like she feels obliged to perform them. She dis something similar with Just Dance, Poker Face and Telephone at the artRAVE and I felt weird about that, too. (the JWT one looks much better than the artRAVE one though, LOVED artRAVE but that segment was she rushed and awkward and her outfit was awful).

How do you feel? Which songs could you miss in the future? Which ones should she keep performing? Should new material dominate over back catalogue?

Please note that I'm talking about tours that are linked to a specific album, she can of course perform her hits on other occasions (at festivals for example, where the majority of the audience are casual fans and respond better to hits than to new material).

I believe that Bad Romance, Poker Face, Born This Way & Just Dance are the 4 hits that she'll never skip.

I do think that for future performances, it would be great to mix most of her older hits with the new music, similar to what Madonna did with Holy Water & Vogue on the Rebel Heart Tour.

I wouldn't mind if she skipped them all for one tour and instead played album tracks  but she obviusly can't, since the GP expect to hear some hits

 

I would be happy if she stopped using BR as a "closer" song, it's always at the ****ing end of the show, I love the BTWB because it treated it like one more song, not "her hit single, Bad Romance"

Well,based on the fact Gaga herself doesnt seem to like it herself anymore,and there probably isnt going to be a performance with Beyoncé,I wouldnt mind If Telephone wouldnt get performed anymore.

I also wouldnt mind If Yoü And I didnt get performed anymore,not that Its a bad song(certainly not),but Its just a little overplayed.

I don't know if she'll ALWAYS perform Paparazzi, I was pretty scared she wouldn't this time. Poker Face can be left out some shows I think.

Just Dance, LoveGame and Telephone: I don't care about the first two (good songs but meh). Love Telephone, but would prefer if she did an acoustic shortened version (like the one she did on BRIT Awards 2010). I think she performs them so the fans can have a good moment. After all, her other songs aren't that energetic and catchy.

She should replace Paparazzi with Venus imo. I LOVE Paps and it's iconic but I'd like to see another song from ARTPOP on the setlist. I know it was her last album but only one song? I'm happy with it don't get me wrong but imo Venus>Paparazzi for a tour song.

she'll never skip Bad Romance, Just Dance and Poker Face, but when she'll have a huge discography like Madonna's she could follow her steps and perform some gems on tour (Deeper and Deeper) and skipping some of the biggest hits (Like A Prayer)

Poker Face and Bad Romance are musts. She must stick with them for her whole career.

The other ones could be some kind of medley or remixed with newer songs.

LoveGame & Paparazzi could be shortened, Telephone could be erased.

EDIT : Mess I forgot about Just Dance  I love it too but it should be either LoveGame OR Just Dance imo

I'd be fine if she took all of them out, or at least shortened them. The segment from Alejandro to Applause on the JWT seems to be my least favorite. Clearly songs like Poker Face, Bad Romance, Born This Way, and probably Just Dance will never leave her setlist. I'd be fine with the rest, especially LoveGame (no one even remembers it) and Telephone (its gotten old) being cut.

I don't have a problem with her singing older hits. I don't ever think she'll not sing BR, PF, and JD at any of her concerts. Those are some of her biggest hits. I do wish she had spread out a lot of her older songs with newer ones and not had a ton jumbled all together in the beginning few acts.

I don't think she'll ever stop including Bad Romance because that was the song we were named after and lord knows how much she adores her monsters ♥️ Lol even during Coachella she said "everytime I see a little monster I hear 'rah rah ah ah ah'"

I'd be fine if she cut short LoveGame because the performance is not as good as in her past tours tbh. 

I wish she did a similar mix to the Coachella one for Just Dance because it became really boring after some time. 

Telephone screams filler and could be easily replaced with a better track like, let's say, Venus.
