Stereotyping the people of Missouri as racist is like stereotyping black people as thugs. Come on people. Use your heads. Did you read the OP? You're over sensationalizing the entire point. The points have have given to you. The reality is that laws are passed to affect certain groups. And the NAACP simply put out a notice that such laws are present. It comes across like they don't have the ability to see your point of view whatsoever. You disagree on the approach, so you are categorically wrong and your opinions don't matter. How is it in your face? Honestly, I'm kind of thrown off a bit by the continuous accusation that this is some extreme act by the NAACP against the entire state. Why is it unfair or too 'in-your-face' to send out a caution over how the laws passed by the state government of Missouri could affect you adversely if you are a POC? To me, I see the people with the gut, instantaneous reaction like "OMG the NAACP are going way too far!" as the ones who are trying to avoid seeing another point of view. The NAACP put out a caution talking about how a law passed in Missouri negatively affects POC and leaves them vulnerable to discrimination and the attempt is to shut them up and label that as extreme How are you supposed to have a discussion if the other side can't even talk about how they feel the laws are unjust, dangerous and discriminatory without being told they are being too 'in-your-face'? Logic isn't much of a help though is it? Of course POC are much safer than opposed to the days of slavery or Jim Crow... The analogy is a bit silly. Merely because you don't understand that today POC face a much more implicit attack on civil rights. Just look at NC where black voters were directly targeted by Republicans regarding voter suppression. SCOTUS even had to step in and strike the voter ID law down. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/15/us/politics/voter-id-laws-supreme-court-north-carolina.html These issues are going on in Missouri and other places too. BUT this action by the NAACP is merely an attempt to warn and educate POC of these ongoing instances of groups of people trying to use laws as a way to target them. And it should be pointed out that there normally isn't an good reason for these laws, like mentioned in the OP, to exist at all.

I was speaking in general in regards to how people on here react to certain topics when I say they are 'in-your-face'. There is no room for different opinions. You get called trash, disgusting, apologist, racist and a ton of other things. Not necessarily in this thread, but it happens all the time. That kind of approach is what I consider in-your-face. In regards to the NAACP. It just seems a bit uneccessary to issue a travel warning to the state in response to an unfair law that affects minority employees in the state. I say it adds fuel to the fire because racists are already looking for reasons to discriminate against minorities. I can only see this type of travel warning being used against minorities by racists as a reason to act out or commit hate crimes. While the intent of the NAACP is not to cause any harm, I think issuing a statewide travel warning is pretty extreme.

While the intent of the NAACP is not to cause any harm, I think issuing a statewide travel warning is pretty extreme. Well, I think i've already expressed my POV enough in this thread. I don't really see how the NAACP putting out a caution really adds fuel to the fire and I'm not sure there is an approach they could have taken that wouldn't draw this criticism. If people are angry or upset enough at the NAACP for issuing a caution due to laws passed in the state, and a lack of action in areas such as discrimination from the police, that make life more dangerous for POC then they are unreasonable... You can't reason with unreasonable people. It would seem to me that if racists would use this as a reason to act out and commit hate crimes, they would probably use any complaint or attempt, from the NAACP, BLM or any activists, to change legislation and introduce reforms as an excuse to commit hate crimes against minorities. I just think that any attempt from the NAACP to respond to these unjust laws that make life more difficult, and dangerous, for POC would be met with criticism that they are being divisive or adding fuel to the fire. I also don't think it's unreasonable to tell people to be cautious, warn them about how specific laws can affect them and provide them with advice and resources to use incase they do face trouble in the area. I just feel like this 'strong warning' to POC when traveling through Missouri is an obvious form of protest to the Bill that many racists will not take kindly to. The bill doesn't affect POC traveling through the state, it only affects employees working within the state, so it doesn't make a ton of sense to issue this travel warning because of the bill. Sure, it's certainly a form of protest. They give more than just that reason for why they have issued the warning though, I think the law in their eyes, is indicative of how the government treats POC and how serious they are about protecting POC from discrimination or proper recourse when discriminated against. Racists won't like any form of protest though, so again it's like... whatever. Let the racists be mad, there was never going to be a way to take action while pleasing them. I think that the people who already live in Missouri will feel justified in their protesting and rioting ... and those that commite hate crimes *white or black* will also feel empowered by the statements of the NAACP like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still.
