Recently, Lana Del Rey has revealed in an interview that she did in fact have an original version of 'Get Free' that she scrapped because it was too personal and intimate. So she re-recorded the song making it more vague (evident by the lyric "for __ and for __" after she removed 2 personal names). Lana has also said that the original song was completely deleted, but knowing Lana it'll probably make it's way out sometime :poot:. A fan asked Lana yesterday at her show what the original title was and she replied with 'Malibu'! While there's no video, I know for a fact that the fan was at the show!

Let's just say that Miley is quaking!

Interesting. I think it was also supposed to be her "life story", but she changed that, too.

Chic

I'm just imagining Lana doing her famous spin move with a bunch of balloons in hand on a beach in Malibu

I'm glad she changed it, we wouldn't have the positive, happy bop that is Get Free.

the production on SB is fine--it's quite crisp and the audio levels are all even. GF has weird clunky production and uneven volume. and I'm far from an expert, but you can tell songs like coachella, in my feelings and GF were rush jobs.

The production & volume is deliberate on Get Free. It was reworked, but as far as we know, it wasnt like, one of the last tracks to be finished regardless... That would go to Summer Bummer, Coachella, and Change :emma:

Coachella - yes, but I don't think Coachella's production is actually messy, just kind of bad or uninteresting and kind of like a parody of the kind of trap beats she would normally use. Rick Nowels detailed their typical recording process, so its likely that she wrote the song very fast, laid it down with him over chords, but then they didn't really explore several different types of beats or reach out to anyone and went with one of the first things they came up with given how fast it came out... Meanwhile other songs she claims to have mixed and tinkered with for ~ 8 months.

Personally, I don't have a problem with IMF's production, but I see how it can be seen as heavy.
