I don't care if people personally identify as feminist, I care about how they act. Definitions are a tricky subject, but I'll venture to say that the "google dictionary definition" is not exhaustive, and feminism is not something that can be succinctly defined by something as basic as that, let alone any 1 definition. There are different feminisms. While many people may believe they are Feminists (they may even fit certain definitions) some may strongly and actively work against equality for women and some may even be outright sexist or misogynistic without realizing it. To me, thats more important of a distinction than if one self-identifies as a feminist. By the most basic definition, most people are feminists; however, most people don't actively work to dismantle systems that oppress women (or anyone really ) as a class, let alone check their own biases and behaviors/beliefs. Walk the walk basically (Also, neither I nor you are the arbiter of who is or isn't a feminist™ ) 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

No, they should complain about issues facing their community and it's not because they want to be oppressed and hate white people. There are many valid issues they should be fighting. Feminism can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. My posts were mostly to regard the tactics I see extreme feminists perform, utilizing the vague definition to validate and forward their agenda
CautiousLurker 19,303
A lot of celebrities who say they're feminists really aren't... In fact a lot of people who say they're feminists have no clue what feminism is and what it was intended for... And honestly, I don't mind that very much, because nowadays a person saying they are a feminist tells me very little... Look at how ridiculous the most vocal feminists in the community can get... I'm far more interested in a person's actions, and their world-view, than a label they attach to themselves, or have people attach to them... It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke! bobbby 939
I think there's two things to note: 1) That interview was haywire and Gaga was annoyed. I think they were asking in a presumptuous/leading way and she picked up on that. I think she was nipping it in the but by being like "no I don't hate men." 2) She obviously educated herself a LOT on social issues in the year(s) following. Remember that sis went to private school in Manhattan and then got in with the party scene in New York that tends to be pretty woman-empowering. It wasn't until she had to confront gender inequality (via the music industry) that she developed more of a POV on it. Personally, when I first did diversity training in college: The first time they brought up white privilege I obviously was very defensive, but after seeing firsthand what that meant I began to educate myself more and realized that it was in-fact a very real thing.
