lmfao Gagadaily finding this more important than race issues that affect black people

I'm sorry but this is simply ignorant. No one's issues are more important than others, just because they're white, not black. It's kinda like saying that racism can't happen to white people.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

Again, it was her label (likely a white executive) who dissuaded her as they felt it wasn't as profitable for a white girl to sing hip hop as it would to sing pop. Please stop pretending 'black people' collectively joined forces to try and stop Bebe Rexha from doing hip hop...:madge:

No crap, Einstein. Do you also want to let us in on the fact that the sky is blue?

Someone asked if she was white and I responded by saying she is from a European country, so naturally the answer boiled down to 'yes, she is.' She speaks of her Albanian heritage often, as both her parents are from there, so I think it's safe to say that she is racially white and ethnically Albanian. Lest we forget Albanians historically migrated from Turkey to Europe, so while white, they often have Middle Eastern or Asian features which can help explain why some people may question whether Bebe is white or not.

But by all means, continue to spew knowledge we all already know...

Why are you so rude? Did I say anything rude to you that would warrant such a Dickish response? Did I personally belittle or attack you? I'm glad you are so educated at the history of Albania, but I never insinuated you weren't. SInce I misunderstood what you were saying, You could have easily said "I know Albanian isn't a race, I was just saying".  And I would have been like "Oh, my bad. Cool."

I'm sure people just love your method of "educating". By all means, continue spreading knowledge that way.

Yep, the pictures of mayo are really getting on my wick as well. Do people seriously think that's funny? If I posted a picture of a watermelon or fried chicken in response to a genuine complaint from a black person, I'd be WP'd so fast my feet wouldn't even touch the ground. But a (usually white, ironically enough) person posts a picture of mayo underneath a genuine complaint from a white person and they actually get likes for it. It may be a small issue but it's little things that this that prove that the "equality" that some people are fighting for is nothing more than special treatment. The right to make fun of white people with no consequence, yet expect to be treated respectfully in return. Here I was thinking respect was the ideal route to take to be treated the same as everyone else, my mistake.

Of course black women deal with racism, I wasn't denying that. But I think white women have to deal with as much in their own way. I've been over before how white women are seen as easy prey for men of certain cultures (trying to be diplomatic when I say that). I've seen so much evidence of this and have talked with other white women who've been through this. There are certain people in this world that view white women as nothing but sex objects, view them as less than human (it's the downside to being the ultimate beauty standard which no one really seems to address). Watch the true serial, Three Girls, to witness the extent to which this is the case. These girls were groomed into prostitution and when it was reported, the police did nothing about it because the girls were white (and I must add, all the many victims were white), the perpetrators were Arab and they didn't want to be accused of racism. But whenever I bring up this story and many other cases of it, most people, shockingly, most of them white, bat it away, say it wasn't a hate crime. They refuse to see that white people can be victims of hate crime as well. White women are in serious danger from sex crimes because of these toxic stereotypes spread about us being promiscious, we'd do it with anyone. And when we report it, no one believes us. White women are not protected little gems in society like we're told they are. The reality is very different. And when I saw that MTV Decoded episode about "Black Female Stereotypes That Have To Go," all I could think was, apart from the mammy, was "These are stereotypes that affect all women." To say that they're just a black issue is so untruthful and damaging. Every race sexualises its women but some definitely suffer from it more than others. Naturally, the ones that have been socially reinforced as the prettiest (white women) and the ones that have been socially reinforced as the most submissive (Asian women) are, not surprisingly, the groups most widely affected by this. But to hear any SJW talk, you'd think black women are the only racial group that has ever suffered and is suffering, any hardship ever, like it's unique to them. And while they deserve to voice their problems, they shouldn't be silencing other women who claim the same thing just because they're used to the biggest amount of oppression points.

Sometimes you think its all about attacking you guys, not really. Black people get pissed off because we never feel like we own our ****. Maybe thats why she was told to sit down. They gave you rap hip hop jazz soul and rock and yet they probably feel like you guys are trying to take it from them. Perfect example was the Grammies with Macklemore. He didnt deserve that and yet he won. Everyone knows he didnt deserve that. Im sure that white people had a say in who won that award. They gave you style and cool and yet your large retailers profit heavily of what they bless you guys with. Black women features are the in thing. White girls with big asses lips and the whole ten yards. The hairstyles everything and yet those things look better on you guys according to society so they have every right to be pissed. Kylie Jenner Iggy Miley and Meghan Trainor. The audacity of her to say shes bringing booty back. Shes needs to sit her plasma screen ass down because Rihanna had ass before she became relevant so did Beyonce **** South Africa is the home of the big beautiful ass so she needs to sit down. I was 7 or 8 when the girls my age starting twerking but it was more like a dance. **** some of us guys would do that **** too then Miley Cyrus said she brought twerking back. She needs to sit her grapefruit ass down and start writing some country songs if she carries on saying **** like that. Just because black culture isnt what you want it to be doesnt mean you should say some **** about it. Same happens here in South Africa with our music and style. Louis Vuitton took an authentic african design and sold it to white people. White women have never been the prettiest in my opinion. Give me a dark girl with rhythm  big ass and an afro all day every day. If shes busy then Latina girl.

Oh yeah sure, I don't know that black people were victims, in my mind all races always had equal rights, I live in the Little Ponies World where everyone is happy and nice.

Spoiler, I know what happened.

If you think it's okay to reject white people and deny them the right to anything just because black people have been treated that way, you just didn't learn anything. You would think that being a victim of racism, sexism, homophobia, etc make the victims more tolerant and aware. Recently, I discovered it doesn't. There's racism against whites, there's sexism against men, there's heterophobia. If you don't want to acknowledge it, fine, stay in your ignorance and keep on believing that treating white people badly will actually make black people's situation better. Maybe after a few more world wars humanity will finally begin to understand, I don't know.

So yes, coming to say that it's fair that white people shouldn't do hip-hop and then whining because black people are denied access to whatever thing that originated in the white culture is stupid. But hey, it's so much easier than trying to be a little smarter and not becoming what you're fighting against.

Thing is we make **** that we cant sell. You created computers ect we still buy them. Elvis, The Beatles and Eminem didnt pay African Americans to use their creations. We only play your Sports because we are better at them than your are. Who would pay money to watch some white guy sprint slower than I jog or how many Brazilians and Africans are playing football in Europe. We may not have invented some of technological marvels surrounding us today but we sure as hell didnt invent the nuclear bomb and guns.

Well, it's good that you acknowledge that white women can experience discrimination but it all falls apart when you make the assumptions after that. I've always been an intersectional feminist. It's a myth that white women don't believe in this. I have always listened to WOC's opinions but, because I treat everyone equally, I'm going to call them out if they say something that is genuinely misinformed or untruthful. Just like I do to white people. No one is above criticism in my mind and no one should be exempt from further questioning. Read the posts I made before this to get a more rounded idea of what I meant with my original statement. I did clarify that white women experience just as much racism in their own way. It operates differently but it's there. But judging from what you said before, I appreciate that you think any experiences I have are valid. Because I've had POC outright tell me my experience is not the same as theirs even though it's exactly the same. It's weird because I've always found real comfort when I find someone who has the same experience as me, regardless of superficial things like race. So, it's been very disheartening to be shut out by POC whose experience I've matched just because I'm not the same colour as them. That's the disturbing reality of some modern civil rights beliefs. Some people claim they want equality when their words and actions really suggest that they want special treatment and segregation. I preach cooperation, understanding, love and acceptance. Something that I'm finding precious little of in supposed forward-thinking racial theories.

Oh, trust me, I've seen arguments like yours all the time. I think I've seen enough of them to get it. It's always the same: "You can't be a part of hip hop...but if you do, you have to complete an absurdly long checklist to be worthy enough." There is no such high standards in any other genre. No other genre is so protective that they deny anyone the rights to make such music unless they do everything they say. Music is one of the most obvious ways one I can indulge in freedom, no matter who you are. You can make music in the privacy of your own house with no one ever knowing. And the end product is yours, it complies to no rules. I don't police art. Lil Wayne did a rock album and he certainly wasn't treated with any respect for that. Beyonce was praised for her venture into country with Daddy Lessons (the CMAs audience had a different reaction, though). But I don't see anyone seriously saying that they inserted themselves into the genre in ignorance. They have every right to make whatever music they please and they do not have to conform to a long list of commandments before they can do it. If they did, it would be called racist.

White people indulging in black music has not erased any black person's achievements. Elvis sometimes brought up how he jumped on a trend started by a black man, for the record. And it amazes me how the same people are always brought up as examples. I've thoroughly debunked them by now. Miley was slammed by the media for being too provocative and insulting black culture, Kylie Jenner was accused of cultural appropriation and Iggy...she was attacked so much that her career has basically ended. Macklemore was praised for his music but he vanished after his debut and is unlikely to make a comeback, as is the case with 99.9% of white rappers, they're one hit wonders by design. I'm fed up of people trying to re-write history. These people were not highly praised, they still aren't and they certainly aren't erasing any black people's achievements. Considering how the amount of black people in the game vastly outnumbers the white people, they get far better reviews and album sales and their history of starting the genre is constantly repeated, I don't think we're in danger of forgetting who started all this. It's just pure fear-mongering to suggest that the genre's being whitewashed. It's not even come close to that. For one thing, labels don't want to take the risk on a white rapper because only one has truly had continued success in all these years and every other one has crashed and burned after one album. Tell me when the rap game is 80% white. In fact, tell me when it's 50% white. Then we'll talk.

I've explained above why your thinking is still problematic. It is absurd to expect white people to do extreme research (and then still judge them and assume they haven't done any, most likely) when you don't expect the same of POC when they engage in any culture that is not their own. You're asking white people do extra work that you're not asking POC. Don't you realise what you're saying here?

Yes, I'm British. But I assure you that my research into American racial issues are vast. I know it's not the same situation over there as it is here but that's partly the problem. I think our ways of dealing with race are so much better. And when I hear POC on the internet complaining about white people as if we're all one interchangeable group that all thinks the same, not only is that offensive, but that's not the British experience. White people are different all over the world, POC are treated differently all over the world and to be judged as if the rest of the world mirrors America's situation really irks me.

Rock was a creation of the black man. Iggy is fake because she raps in a Southern Black woman accent but shes Australian. Tinie Tempah doesnt sound American he sounds English thats why I like him and Macklemore has the white people who gave him the award to thank for that because Kendrick is the best right now. He speaks the truth. I think same love was a beautiful song but he is a constant reminder of how being white can take you far.

I never said that it doesn't exist. Why is this always the assumption made whenever I talk about things like this? I say we handle race differently, I didn't say that it's destroyed racism. But it has kept it down. My mouth just fell open when I read your reply. You seem to have gone off in a completely different path and blown things way out of proportion. Nowhere did I say that it's just whites that suffer racism, I wouldn't say anything so ludicrous. I just think that any race can experience racism and that it's all equally as bad and I'm speaking up for the instances that get swept under the rug. Which is, you know, what black people are constantly telling white people to do - focus on the issues that we're told to pretend don't exist. Apparently, when you do the same for instances of white racism, you're trying to have a monopoly over who it happens to.

And I actually found your assessment of my country's history quite disrespectful, truth be told. Our past is shameful but so is any country's. White people did not invent slavery. The Arab Slave Trade in the 7th century, hundreds of years before the Atlantic Slave Trade, which involved African slaves to the Middle East, involving as many as 18 million Africans, much more than was ever taken by Europeans. The Barbary Slave Trade in Northern Africa even traded in white Europeans. Considering that blacks have never been close to a majority population in America, obviously not all of them owned slaves and we like to forget that some free blacks owned black slaves. Not only did 28% of free blacks in America own slaves, but they did so at a higher rate than whites (just 1.4% of white Americans owned slaves, even at its peak). Slavery has happened all over the world, in every culture, every dynasty, it's a part of human history. In fact, to this very day, some slavery still goes on in some parts of Africa. And if you want to talk about sexual slavery, that's even more prevalent worldwide. So, how you can blame it all on white Europeans and white people in general, is beyond insulting. Racism isn't over and it likely never will be but the least we could do is stop spreading false information about the origins of slavery and who's responsible for it.

To be honest I prefer British whites over the Americans but you seem like you are justifying it by saying just because they did why cant we. You guys left a lot of **** in wake though and looted **** that was never yours. By the way my country wants its Gold and Diamonds back. Anyway Africa AUSTRALIA New Zealand India North America. You shouldn't be resurrecting old threads, @Light African, it's against the rules. I know you're new but this is just basic forum etiquette by now across the board. Nevertheless, I'll answer some of what you've said very quickly:

You may feel like you don't own anything, but I can assure you that whites are under no illusion that they own it instead. It's pure paranoia to think we do. Any white person who thinks whites invented these black origin genres is an idiot, pay them no mind. Most of us know different. And you seem to be glossing over the fact that Macklemore has basically been a one-era wonder. His music ever since just isn't selling. Same with Iggy. So, why are you saying that white rappers are reaping so much benefit when they're performing the worst? Black rappers are having consecutively successful albums all the time. And what about white women who have these features naturally? We're not trying to look like black women, rather, voluptuous white women. No one says that black hairstyles look better on whites - the whites who praise them also like them on black people. I've actually seen white people be more complimentary of black hair than other blacks are. Of course Meghan's claim was ridiculous but lots of artists make egotistical claims in music, it's nothing to get offended over. Justin Timberlake said he was bringing sexy back, right? I don't think Miley ever said that she brought twerking back but even if she did, no one actually believed her. She got mocked by lots of white people for her antics during Bangerz. And are you seriously saying that fashion designers can't take inspiration from wherever they like? That's how fashion keeps going - outside inspiration. And saying that you don't find white girls the prettiest and prefer your own black women? Yet you insult whites for preferring their own white women? Uh, double standard? And nice objectification at the end, there. Women are not there for your amusement and considering most Latinas are white, I don't know why you think of them as different to white girls. There are Latin women who are the same shade as me. Some even have blonde hair and blue eyes.

I just said it was a creation of the black man in that part you quoted - mentioning that Elvis once stated that he didn't invented rock n roll, he just jumped on a trend started by a black man. Yes, Iggy puts on a different accent but she likely did it because she was afraid she wouldn't be taken seriously with an Aussie accent as Aussie rap culture isn't big enough to draw respect for speaking in her native accent. Plus, she lived in the south since she was 16, so obviously her accent will change. And most people sound different when they rap anyway. Tinie Tempah can sound English when he sings because British rap culture is big enough to the point where that accent can command respect. I don't think Kendrick is all that but each to their own. And I think Macklemore's ok...but just ok. The only white rapper that's truly amazing is Eminem, as most white people will tell you. Even whites don't want white rappers. If they did, don't you think the charts would be full of them, if white spending power wields so much power, as you claim? I think Kendrick's sales are proof that the spending power of the black community is huge. And don't act is if blacks don't succeed in the industry. Look at all the biggest sellers right now. Look at the list of the most awarded artists in Grammy history.

I didn't say that "they did slavery, why can't we?" I'm just bringing up the historical facts - every race and culture in history practicised slavery, some of which was far more brutal than the Atlantic slave trade, so why are whites the only ones getting hate for it all these years later? The Arab Slave Trade went on much longer and enslaved far more Africans than the Atlantic Slave Trade ever did, so why aren't modern Arabs being hated on for this? Why is it all pushed towards whites to take the blame? I come from Scotland specifically, so it's hard to say that I benefited from being British when there were so many wars fought in my country between us and England, how we were persecuted by the English for centuries, how Highland Clearances went on, where Scots were kicked out of their own homes. I mean, if you're talking about centuries-old history, why not bring up this? Why is none of this history treated as relevant to me living today but you want the black slave trade to be treated as relevant to blacks living today?
