Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' has passed a million sales in the UK.

The global hit is the 137th track to do so in British music history after spending a fifth non-consecutive week atop the UK singles chart this past weekend.

I just listened to Robin Thicke's album. "Awful" doesn't even begin to cover it. This wannabe JT rip-off is milking Blurred Lines with remixes now and I can see why. His follow-up singles haven't got anywhere and the fact that it took him ten years to get a hit song is evident that he will only ever be a one hit wonder. It's sad that a song that has the chance to become the biggest seller of the year is by someone with "one hit wonder" written all over them. What's even sadder is that Gaga's single will probably be playing second fiddle to this dross as regards sales. But hey, my predictions of the public's taste are pretty touch and go, so fingers crossed.

Guetta's still "in", though...

Sorry, but this isn't about the quality of the song. Rihanna's released some absolute turds over the years (Hello, You Da One), and they've always performed at least decently. Right Now is possibly the biggest flop of her career EVEN WITH Radio 1 + Capital support, and her album currently sits at #69 on the album chart. It's getting very apparent that the public are becoming bored.

Totally agree. You Da One is hands down one of the worst singles she's ever released, right up there with Cheers, Birthday Cake, Cockiness and Pour It Up (why the remix wasn't the original track, I'll never know). But for some reason, even some of her worst tracks can get somewhere, even if it's just in the US or UK, which is usually the case. She has got very far on name recognition alone. But I do have to point out that Right Now peaked at #36 here because it charted upon the album's release and clearly, people liked it so much they wanted to download it individually immediately. But it should reach a better peak when it's released as a single, even after all this time. So, the fact it hasn't is eyebrow raising. Rihanna's albums normally hang around for well over a year on the charts because she is a singles artist and every time she releases a single (and she releases a lot) is cue for the album to rise again. It doesn't mean that they're bestsellers just because of their constant presence. But by the way things are going, she's going to be out the top 100 before she hits the 52 week (1 full year) mark. I mean, compare her sales and positions to Pink, who's been around much longer and had a four year break prior to her latest album and you start to wonder...have Rihanna's annual releases got too predictable and has the public finally got tired of her being constantly forced on them? I've always found her November releases frankly laughable and I think people are slowly realising that this is purely a cash grabbing ploy in time for Christmas and is nothing to do with Rihanna's passion for entertaining. So they wonder - why are we spending money buying every single when she's going to release something new a year later and it's as if the previous one never existed?

Guetta fans, plus a few Rihanna fans who cherrypick tracks. Not the public.

An out of sight album, two flop singles in a row + a disastrous show in Manchester the other night. Things are certainly not looking good for her over here.

Plus it looks like Gaga, Katy, and Kylie are all coming back this fall to compete with the annual Rihanna album, and their fans are all thirsty for new music. According to the Sayhey insider Headless Postman, Kylie will be releasing her lead single in August, with album date tbd.
