Gaga is the only big American artist with the confidence (or foolishness) to use on air on sale in the US.

Everyone else, including Katy and Rihanna, holds back songs for weeks so they can get that one big chart week based on pent up demand. Even Brits like Ellie have their songs out worldwide first before the UK.

Why is the UK so funny with gaga? It always seems so difficult for her to get a number one now..

To get a #1 in the UK these days is a case of getting radios to play it for a month before it is released to compress all the sales into one week.  All sorts of trash gets a #1 that way.  The other way is to make the song the culmination of some TV series (like X-Factor at Christmas).  You certainly don't release it mid-week.

No Katy's releasing 8th september :) or has she changed it earlier?

That was the original plan but she said on Twitter it would be coming sooner than we think

even if it was on an advert, it would help.

before sept 8th roar will be everwhere. i mean look at #thatpower, i love it, pompeii (used in the ashes/cricket advert), john newman love me again used in athletics... she needs this! but her release strategy hasn't allowed for such promo to happen...

Peak positions <<<< total sales.

Ill be happy if it never reaches number one and still sells a truck load!

That's true - the best selling UK single of 2010 was 'Love The Way You Lie' - it was never #1 any week.
