StrawberryBlond 14,264
So annoyed that S&S is headed for that #1 - it's so unfair because in the UK, you pretty much have to debut at #1 or you don't stand a chance and yet this could go to #1 after being at #2 for over a month! I just wish that some song, any song, could come along and block it. And on that note, Stay is officially released tomorrow, so sales could go right up. It baffles me how it's still doing after all this time with only one promo performance. Don't get me wrong, I love the song, but Rihanna gets #1 hits way too easily and I don't want her to do well with every kind of song with barely any promo. Luckily, her album is proving successful, so I hope more and more people buy that, so they'll have no need to buy the singles. We seem to have reached a stage with Rihanna where she's only having one UK #1 per album (the lead single) and that, I can tolerate somewhat. But not multiple #1's that she doesn't work for. I swear, X Factor is the only thing that gets that woman hits in the UK and I'm sick of the show's blatant favouritism of her. If she's on the show twice in one season ever again... Cockiness 0
Well Cherly's sales aren't THAT bad, compared to Tulisa. Isn't 100k = certification silver? (So we can compare it to 500k in the USA = gold). the UK has its own Gold plaque tho and Cheryl came from having a streak of smashing album/lead single sales with her previous eras I feel bad for Tulisa because she waited too long then no one cared

truthandfacts 0
StrawberryBlond you're gonna have to deal with the fact that rihanna is one of the biggest star in the uk,it's nothing to be bitter about. She actually did a fair amount of promo in the uk. She was on xfactor TWICE and stay is a good song. If the video ends up being good i expect it to go number 1. She actually did a fair amount of promo in the uk. She was on xfactor TWICE and stay is a good song. If the video ends up being good i expect it to go number 1. I do accept it, but it doesn't mean I have to agree with it. No, she did not do a fair amount of UK promo for the song - she did one XF performance (her 777 tour doesn't count as that was overall album promo). Getting booked for the same show twice meant that it was easy promo and she's done it before. She's the only one who's ever performed on the show as a guest performer twice on one season - twice in 2010, twice in 2012. X Factor gives her unfair levels of promotion and doesn't make it an even playing field. They know Rihanna brings in ratings, so they always book her and as near to the final as possible, when downloads get mega high. What annoys me about her is how easily she gets #1's - she just needs to release a song and it debuts at #1 effortlessly. Gaga has to work her ass off promoting her singles and in the end, her hard work doesn't always pay off. Gaga promotes herself in the UK more extensively than Rihanna and X Factor isn't her only promotional outlet. She promotes on lots of UK shows and televised festivals and after all that, she doesn't even get a #1 with the BTW era? Meanwhile, Rihanna does one X Factor performance for the whole of her TTT era and yet gets a #1 out of it and her final single after zero promotion for months goes top ten? I just think it's such an injustice to hardworking artists to lose out to puppets who barely write their own material. I don't like how the UK are such sheep when it comes to Rihanna. I'm hoping that her upcoming two year break will make them get over her.

I agree with you on the fact that x-factor shouldn't be having her multiple times a year. Also other than the graham norton show, the brits award and xfactor, are there any other shows that can be used for promo in the uk.
