Minish 29
The reason why some people find it problematic is because more often than not it's not coming from a genuine place of preference. Not saying that doesn't exist but we as black people have lots of internalized politics such as issues with black men putting down black women in favor of other races. At the end of the day it's his choice but him as a black guy saying this is disappointing but not too surprising. I wont lose any sleep over this either way. I don't think the people who are shrugging this off actually experience and see the things that goes on and the implications that follow when a black guy says he's not into his own race. And this is not a speak all for black men either as there are plenty who date out without being extra like this. This is not some advocacy for racial purity and sticking to your own as I believe love is love but there is nuance to this. It's not all completely innocent in nature. A white person saying they don't like to date white people and a Black person saying they don't like to date black people have two different context, reasonings and explanations. IT's not the same. And let's not even get started and racial desirability in the LGBT community

And let's not even get started and racial desirability in the LGBT community Exactly, there's two totally different things at play there and can't be considered equal. As for the racial disparity, well when in the U.S especially that has media covered all over saying European features is most beautiful and it's what to strive for it's going to **** up a lot of peoples mentality. In the LGBT community as I am sure you can agree with said standards is turned up to a higher volume. White, masculine and a good build it's seen as the thing to be and the trophy to achieve. I am not saying you can't be attracted to who and what you like but some of this is deep seeded brainwashing to the point you normalize it and this goes for everyone. I think it's fine to like what you like but be aware that maybe just maybe even if it's not in your case that for someone else their "preferences" might not exactly be their own after all.
