Europe’s overall population was estimated at 511.8m at the start of the year, up from 510.3m on the back on rising inward migration. Of the bloc’s major countries, Sweden recorded a 14.5 per cent rise in its population, followed by Germany (7.6 per cent) and the United Kingdom (6.5 per cent) to 65.8m. Britain’s annual population growth was the sharpest on record and means the UK is close to eclipsing France in population size (67.02m). There's even a possibility that Kurds will be half the Turkish population because the south-east still has birth rates >4 while the west of Turkey has birth rates below replacement rates.
