Honestly it's too early to judge, not even with a trailer we can really judge how the whole movie turns out. There have been so many movies with amazing trailers that were an absolute mess and others with messy trailers actually turned out good.

I think we really know the answer to this question if we have seen the complete movie.

It's pretty unlikely they earn a Razzie. I think it won't win the Oscar either, but it will be a solid film. They all seem very confident with this project.

Let's hope for the best, unlike certain members on this thread

Did you just imply that Bradley Cooper is a nobody and people don't care about him, just about Gaga? :poot:

Well, if you multiply his ammount of fans x10, you won't have half of the ammount of Gaga fans so...

And you know Gaga, she wants to control everything lol

I mean Sandra Bullock won her Razzie in a film with Bradley Cooper. And she got her Oscar the day after.

I'm not trying to be negative but im fairly certain it'll be critically panned, and a commercial flop. It sounds like a rehash of burlesque and that was a flop, too.

It won a Golden Globe at least.

Do we even know if this will be a wide release film?

In that case it won't be competing with Marry Poppins.

This film could easily be like La La Land where it gains momentum and is added to more theaters depending on how good it is.

And we also have a very limited idea of what the movie will be like. These threads are very premature.

I'm pretty sure a multiple oscar nominee wouldn't pick a lead star who he thought couldn't act the fück out of the script.

Gaga had to have done screen tests.

And Idk what some of y'all are talking about music stars being more criticized when they start movies. JLo, queen latifah, and many more have been openly welcomed by the film industry. I mean Jennifer Hudson got an oscar with her 1st acting gig.

Yes Mary Poppins sequel comes around the same, y'all are acting as if it's impossible for multiple musicals to get oscar nods, when tons of iconic musicals came  out simontaneously in the 1900s and get nominated.

Looking at some these comments, it looks like y'all aren't just setting your expectations low, but actually don't have any faith in the film itself or Gaga.

AHSGa was actually great, especially for an acting novice. Gaga actually has great body language, her emotion/expressions are believeable, and she's a very charismatic line deliver.

Razzie for performance, Oscar for Original Music. The combination of the film being led by an actor and first time director; Lady Gaga's debut leading film role; and a story that got panned during an earlier modernization does not bode well. I feel like the film won't be taken seriously, but that the music written for it will be (to an extent)

The film won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Evergreen" with the award shared by its songwriters, Streisand and Paul Williams, and was also nominated in the categories of Best Cinematography (Robert Surtees), Best Sound (Robert Knudson, Dan Wallin, Robert Glass and Tom Overton) and Original Song Score (Roger Kellaway).[9]

It won five Golden Globe Awards for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy (Streisand), Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy (Kristofferson), Best Original Score (Paul Williams and Kenny Ascher) and Best Original Song, (Streisand and Williams for "Evergreen").[10] The film's music score and theme song also won ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards for Most Performed Feature Film Standards and nominated BAFTA Awards for Anthony Asquith Award for Film Music and Best Sound Track, Grammy Award for Best Album of Original Score written for a Motion Picture or Television Special

All technical categories. Plenty of poorly reviewed films win these awards.

Golden Globe Awards are given by 80 members of the HFPA. It is not taken as seriously as other awards and, given the category split, Musical and Comedy is often a more relaxed category. The Tourist got nominations in the category...

Again, all music. I already said the music would likely get Oscar consideration and referenced the 1976 as an example of this. Furthermore, we're talking Oscars. If we're talking Golden Globes, I could see it doing fairly well in the Musical/Comedy section.

You could've just linked me the wiki you took this all from, but regardless, I'm well aware that the 1976 version won awards and had success on the musical end. It is why I mentioned that I believe the original music in the 2018 version could likely receive Oscar attention. That doesn't take away that the 1976 was not well received by critics. It has 31% approval on Rotten Tomatoes and, to replicate you, here is part of the Wikipedia page for the film that you neglected to include:

Critical Reception

A Star Is Born maintains a 31% "Rotten" rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 16 reviews.[6] Roger Ebert gave the film two and 1/2 stars.[7] Paul Mavis, reviewing Warner's 2006 disc release of A Star is Born for DVD Talk, wrote, "There is something of value in A Star is Born--one thing--and that's Kris Kristofferson's amazingly adept, heartfelt performance as the doomed rock star, self-destructing despite the love of an up-and-coming singer (Streisand). There's not a wrong note in his performance. Unfortunately, the remainder of A Star is Born is an unmitigated disaster that has the megalomaniac fingerprints of Barbra Streisand and her hairdresser/producer boyfriend, Jon Peters, all over it."[8]

Dayman

Seems promising from when I went for filming. If nothing else, the soundtrack has some certified BOPS on it.
