If Gaga debuted a song at the Super Bowl, would it have debuted at #1?

Born To Slay

If Gaga was starting the era in 2017 and instead of performing a song that'd been out for months, she'd performed a song that'd just been released that Friday, the m/v debuted with it and it had a Spotify deal like Katy, would the single have debuted at number one?

lets keep in mind Perfect Illusion debuted with 100k copies and MR sold 149k Super Bowl week. So the hypothetical lead could've sold 250k. Katy's lead single debuted with 14.7 million streams, if Gaga could've pulled that off plus music video streams, she could've debuted with even more. With this info in mind, would these circumstances have allowed Gaga's lead to debut at number one?

Yes, but sadly that's not what she wants anymore. I think she wants to underperform on purpose so she doesn't have to deal with that type of pressure anymore :noparty:

Yep. Without a doubt. And if Gaga’s management had any ounce of ****ing sense about them they would have made The Cure happen for that event but oh well. We’ll settle for our Top 50 peaking radio trendy bop

Definitely. The song would have sold around 200k-250k first week, around 1.5x the amount of streams of PI, and 1.5x radio play.

The only thing that we’d have to consider is the plunge out of the top 20 the following week. Considering that for almost all of America, Million Reasons at SB was technically their first time properly hearing it and even that couldn't keep it top 10 for more than a single week

*Someone correct me if i'm wrong*

I feel like The Cure was made to have a debut performance during the SBHS. That was the plan at least, before MR showed stability and longevity. Then her team saw they could capitalize on the consistent MR to bring it up to a Top 10 hit, so they performed that instead. Also then, feel like AYO or PI would have taken Telephones place in the lineup, since without MR they wouldn't have had anything from her current era.

Girl, 100% agree with you.

Just because she's not doing as well as she use to, now she wants to "give up" and "underperform on purpose", like what the f*ck is that?

Yeah, I'm sure her label would love to see that!

Right... Because a label, who's job it is to make money, doesn't care about what they're doing...

Those are different things though :diane:

Being afraid to underperform and then succumbing to those fears because of the pressure of the industry is such an unhealthy way of doing things. Not only would it affect business, but just the implications of those actions on her mental health is just  it would be awful

As for merchandise, I think her team is just trying to be trendy. They're marketing their product in a similar way to A LOT of other artists who are popular amongst the youth (Ariana Grande, Kanye, etc.) down to even the design.

As much as I would like The Cure to have been released for the SB, I don't think that it was even recorded then.

This :toofunny: she needs to realize before LG6 that she still is one of the top b*tches in the music industry.
