I have never been so frustrated with the controls of a Sonic game ever before, not even Sonic The Hedgehog (2006). I read that they had to scale back resolution to 720p on the Switch because Sonic Team didn't have access to the system until later on in making the game. This may be a silly question but are the 3D Sonic games actually good? Thank you I started YouTubing ways to beat it after my stressful attempt a few days ago and saw that one but I was gonna keep trying just placing Mario in the middle and aiming Cappy, but yeah I think I will have to use this method because I'm at the end of my tether Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

The general consensus is that Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast were the best 3D Sonic games, which explains why it was later ported to Gamecube and other consoles. When you played as Sonic, the fast-paced feel is still there, but its not as overwhelming in my opinion. They were more like a Mario platformer with different playstyles (screw treasure hunting with Knuckles and Rouge ) Later games slimmed down on the different playstyles until they just focused on Sonic's fast-paced platforming and a gimmick playstyle. In Sonic Unleashed it was Sonic's fast-paced platforming and Were-Sonic's hack and slash. In Sonic Generations, it was Sonic's fast-paced platforming and Classic Sonic's nostalgic headache-inducing platforming. We don't talk about Sonic Boom. Sonic Colors was the one time they only focused on Sonic, barring spin-offs, but they added the gimmick to his gameplay, being the wisps. Now with Sonic Forces, it's Sonic, Classic Sonic, and an Avatar, whose gameplay is just odd. Like, he's kinda hack and slash, they didn't want to give him too much speed but enough that it's still fast, he has a grappling hook that just comes out whenever. It all felt rather directionless, like, they liked the idea of a player made character, but didn't think through the best way to execute it. I do enjoy Sonic 3D games, but not as much now as I did the older ones, such as the Adventure Games or Sonic Heroes. Probably a big reason I play these games is out of nostalgia, but it's untrue to say that's the only reason I enjoy them. Any maybe it's not the games controls I'm having a problem with rather than the Switch itself, because "sticky controls" was my same complaint about Super Mario Odyssey. The games I have played on the Switch up until now haven't really required any sort of finesse. TL;DR They have the potential to be good, but the newer releases tend to fall short.
