Okay but you could attribute BEP's success to Fergie in the same regard since they only became successful once they had her as a member.

Out of the two, Fergie is the only one to have had a successful career in a group and solo. Even though PCD was totally carried by Nicole, the image of them as a whole was still branded as a group and that isn't something that should be overlooked. If you want to suggest that Nicole's talent is the sole reason for PCD's success, then she would've had at least one solo hit, too. But... she doesn't.

I think Nicole is great as a vocalist but for some reason she doesn't have the appeal that Fergie does/did and that's just clear from the stats. I think BEP should just call it a day at this point anyway. Replacing Fergie looks desperate and people won't get on board with it.

That does not deny her talent anyway, they where successful because she sang, and she sings great. That's like saying the chainsmokers or whatever tops the charts nowadays are more talented than Gaga

But the music Nicole made as a solo artist was very different from the PCD work which I think was a factor in her underperformance. I don't think it has to do with having more or less talent than Fergie tbh.

The Dutchess was huge. All five of the singles went top five on the Hot 100 (three #1s) and it set the record for having the most multi-plat digital singles (until Teenage Dream). One album. PCD, with Nicole at the helm, only got four top ten singles (zero #1s) from their two albums.

You can discuss talent to whatever lengths because they are both good singers, but Fergie has always had more commercial appeal and you're massively understating what she has achieved.

I didn't say it had anything to do with how much talent she or Fergie has. But your comment that I quoted suggested that Nicole was the sole reason (or at least the biggest) behind PCD's success.

If she had so much commercial appeal, or had the ability to make hits, then she would have had seen some success. The music she released solo wasn't exactly experimental, and she worked with big hitmakers like RedOne, Stargate, The Dream etc... and yet nothing. I think excellent marketing and the fact it was six hot girls was more to do with it. She sang lead but she didn't bring much of a personality - anyone with a decent voice could've done it. Her vocal ability definitely wasn't used to it's potential in PCD tho.

Honestly, good. If Fergie is the only thing that is holding up the group from releasing music then they need to cut her. Sure she is a MASSIVE part of why they had success but she needs to understand that she can be replaced. holding up an entire group is not fair when you had so much free time to release your own solo material for many years now.
