It's just simbolism, chill. I don't get what the offense in this is.

Haven't LGBTs fought hard and long in order to stand their ground and have a place in this world? haven't we been brutally murdered and isolated just because of our stance? Chechnya? Orlando? conversion camps? etc.

I think people see Gaga's concerts or pride parades and think that's all we are and that we haven't had real, and deadly, struggles as a community. I know I personally have. A lot.

**** this, this is gross, and not because "the poor Marines!!!" but rather because **** American militancy and the way it exploits its citizens by radicalizing them into unconditional nationalism -- BUT, **** this because there's literally no need to and to place queerness in juxtaposition to Iwo Jima is disgusting because (and I bet most people don't even know what Iwo Jima was) it is placing queerness in relation to military occupation and slaughter. The flag raising at Iwo Jima was literally the U.S. conquering Japanese land, not a brave statement by Americans. 

THAT BEING SAID: The person OP quoted is upset for the wrong reasons. 

"Don't compare gay marriage to the Marines who fought and died in Iwo Jima."

The fact that she thinks that being queer boils down top same-sex marriage is ****ing hilarious. This is why I hate that gay marriage has become such a focal point to gay rights (we should do away with marriage as a state sponsored status altogether) as all it does is normalize very specific types of queerness, while leaving those people are queer and not married, not white, poor, or in non-typical unions invalidated and underrepresented.

I know, there are millions of remake of this pictures for years around the world. I would say some of them may be insensitive because I am sure some people don't even know the exact story behind the iconic photograph.

I only omitted the white part because they had what looked to be two people of color here. You're totally right, though!
