Nebraska Dem official fired for celebrating Scalise shooting

An official appointed by the Nebraska Democratic Party was ousted by the state party chairwoman on Thursday after the discovery of a recording in which he allegedly celebrated the shooting of a U.S. House Republican.

In the recording, posted without context on an advocacy site, the official, Phil Montag, is referring to House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) when he says, “This motherf---er, his whole job is like to get people, convince Republicans to f---ing kick people off f---ing healthcare. I’m glad he got shot.”

Montag did not deny that the voice in the recording is his but said he believed it had been edited to take his words out of context.

Although I don't condone violence, I have a really hard time feeling sorry for the republicans that got shot that day, especially because none were critical or deadly. But yeah, violence isn't the answer, no matter how much we believe that people deserve it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

I don't think he should've lost his job for those words, when Trump himself has said MUCH, MUCH worse things in the past, yet he gets to keep his job. Double standards.

Actually Scalise JUST got out of the ICU so it was pretty critical

Wait I thought none of the políticas that were shot were in critical condition? I thought they made it out fine, and it were the bystanders that got the worst of it? Where tf am I getting my info from goddammit

A lobbyist and a Congressman were both severely wounded.  Scalise was very lucky that he survived. A few more minutes and he wouldn't have.

Can I just say, though, that it is ironic that two people of color...one of them  being a black lesbian woman...are the individuals who saved the lives of those twenty five white Republican Congressman.

It is if you believe there's no such thing a a black lesbian female republican. America is really diverse though so that probably isn't the case.

You missed the irony of the situation here. 

Of course there are black Republicans, Lesbian Republicans, and black Lesbian Republicans. However, that has nothing to do with my original comment.

Well, this person acted unprofessinal for this. Should show they are better than Trump instead. There should be a notice or disciplinarian act for this but not sure firing her is justified.
