MonsterAura 548
And of course she comes for Iggy for using the black community, not for Nicki for using the gay community the same way. She's too scared to come for Nicki. She's not half as woke as she pretends to be. And even if she wasn't a hypocrite, calling someone a moron just isn't classy. She needs to seriously grow up. River 117,243
What a useless and unnecessary name dropping.. like give me one reason why she had to say that.. In all seriousness - as a woman who is half-black, I think Halsey has every single right to speak on issues concerning an artist who literally turned black culture into an accessory and who's career suffered because of it, like why are some of you so pressed? Race issues and GGD clearly do not mix as I see a good bit of this site so out of touch with the world around it, and on a frequent basis. As a male who is half-black, I see a lot of people on the internet in general who are "out of touch with the world" surrounding us all. The only "appropriation" Iggy has committed is by being a white woman (specifically Australian) who has made a name for herself in primarily black-dominated music. She has proven to not be well-aware of the historical context behind hip-hop and the cultural impact it might have in American politics but that does not credit Halsey's claims nor make Iggy the bad guy. Is Iggy to blame the general public chose her over other MC women of color? Is Iggy solely responsible for addressing every single controversy in a country she is not a native of? Is the writer of a song called "Fancy" which focuses on self-pride and opulence expected to make some big cultural impact and end all racism? Who's out of touch, my dear? DeleteMyAccount 11,881
These celebs need to chill. I feel like my music library has been getting rid of a lot of people lately... Shame, I didn't know Iggy said that stuff about LGBTQ.... And Halsey, girl... Get out while we still like you.

itsjustlucarifc 126
I think everybody needs to be careful in regards to the assumption and labeling something as "appropriation." Appropriation is synonymous with misrepresentation and an ignorance behind it, fueled by the perpetuation of such by the masses (GP).

It isn't about ending anything, it's about taking a stride forward and simply using your voice. She had one at the time, regardless of who it pleased, regardless of the impact it would've made in the end, she chose to stay silent at a time where we needed people to speak up. It was a choice. And it was a choice that says a bit about the person who made it. Of course it isn't all on her shoulders, but that's the topic of the thread, so if anyone wants to make one for Miley or JB or anyone else, feel free and I can spill tea there as well ❤ x ❤

Just because somebody "appropriates" a culture doesn't make it a bad thing either worthy of removal from a music library. Appropriation can be performed by anyone at any time as a form of insensitive action, thought or behavior. Instead of demeaning others for it, you should confront it in the same way you might someone who mistakenly says something offensive in conversation because more often than not it is indeed a mistake. It's nice being "woke," but if you can't enlighten others, what good are you doing hanging around with solely other people of the same mindset. (This reply isn't solely to you in particular, but in general, everyone who reads it. I hope it encourages conversation, even if they seem so asinine at times. )
drinkmytears 2,332
Her excusing Quavo's behavior but also not denying it...but she would be the first to blame anyone on being homophobic. She also is opening for Justin Bieber and has a song with him, there's videos of him saying the N word and it just got swept under the rug. I don't know that he's racist but he's clearly ignorant and problematic, and tries to be black. She's notoriously hypocritical and inconsistent.
