"We want this negotiation to take place in a good spirit. We know that we will want to work with Great Britain later. Mrs Merkel also spoke about the close relationship she hopes Germany will develop with new French president Emmanuel Macron, who many say will bring back together the crumbling bloc. I'm looking forward to our cooperation because I believe that especially creativity and new impulses coming from France and Germany can be good for everyone. Merkel also spoke kindly of new French president Emmanuel Macron "The world isn't waiting for us. Europe is not at the front in this aspect and we have to have the aspiration to be at the front." Angela Merkel has always been one of Britain’s fiercest critics after the nation voted to unshackle itself from the bloc in June last year.
