Katy is still ahead in the video department, disorganized or not. Sure, I would take Joanne with all it's flaws - execution wise - than any Katy Perry era but still.

I honestly don't think that Gaga was overexposed during BTW. We think she was because we're watching all the perf and interviews from all around the World. For exemple, the American GP will never know about her performance in France or the UK. Her promo strategy was really on point back then.

The main issue was her speech. She was shoving this "gay here gay there" message ij everyone's throat. Everywhere, everytime. And a big part of her audience started to turn its back to her because she was becoming the "singer for the gays" and they didn't want to be associated with that.

And it's sad because she had good contents to promote during that era.

Those are some good points. So essentially the strategy was good but the message of the era was what detracted people from her is what your saying right? I do feel like it was also a mix of over exposure though. I remember 2011-2012 was a time where you sort of could not escape Gaga at all lol (a dream come true for a fan but not for the GP). She was all over the news for every little thing, had posters everywhere (even fast food restaurants and trains), had commercials etc...

Her music was properly handled and performed and had some nice visuals but the other stuff sort of caused the over exposure unfortunately.

She was definitely overexposed. Just take a look at her schedule/promo/celebrity status. People got tired of her and her gimmicks. 

She really risked her career for the gays, didn't she? Poor woman. Truly a saint.

I wouldn't say her entire speech tho. If she kept talking about acceptance, tolerance, proudness to be who you are it would have been fine with her. But she definitelly overweighted the "be gay and be proud" part, she didn't keep it general enough to not alienate the GP.

I agree about the hard promo in streets and bus or metro but I don't think it's a reason good enough to justify the fact that she lost popularity. Same with the news. It's not like she was on national TV for her weight or dress etc every weeks. Only tabloids would write about her all the time and that doesn't cover a large amount of her audience.

That's what I wrote earlier, her schedule was huge but for a regular person she wasn't everywhere. An american will only know about the perf/interview she did in the US. They never heard of Sukkiri or French X Factor perf.

And even just in the US that person won't listen to 5 different radio channel so they won't know about all the interview she did. They'll know about 1 or 2 at best.
